Playa Grande is our favorite warm weather vacation resort. It was clean and in very good repair. All of the staff was super nice. We went to the Mexican Fiesta night which was very entertaining and the food was excellent. Super Dannie was our waiter at the pool multiple days. He did an excellent job taking care of us.

If you go to Playa grand the social area is the pool. Well there you will meet Jair as he does all of the activities. He is very enthusiastic and will go around to all of the guest visiting with them to tell them about aerobics, volleyball, bingo, Spanish lessons, push-up contest, and all sorts of activities. His English is excellent, and he enjoys visiting with everyone. While you’re at the pool, you should look for the areas where Daniel, Ulices, and Jaime are serving! They will make sure you are taken care of and kept fed and hydrated! If you need an umbrella, they are quick to help you out. If you need an extra lounge chair, they will look for one. They’re amazing and make your stay well worth it! If you can, be sure and tip in cash, as it will then be able to go into the pockets of the people who are helping you the most!

The staff were amazing. Housekeeping, servers, pool staff and front desk. All fantastic. The location is convenient - we walked to the marina many times. Gate security prevents an uber pickup, unless you meet them outside the gate. Taxis are expensive, so it was worth a short walk to go meet our uber drivers. The rooms themselves are dated. Need a refresh. The tub was cracked and peeling and the plumbing leaked. I was probably more annoyed by the charge for coffee when we checked out. A bag of coffee was provided in our room - normally a provided amenity in nicer resorts. Nope - a $10 line item when we checked out. When you pay that much for a resort, with hefty taxes, it’s just annoying to get slapped with something so ridiculous at the end. We loved walking out to the beach and watching the whales each day. No swimming and if you want an old, ratty recliner in the sand, you need to drag it yourself. The loungers by the pool are lovely, and the towels are plentiful. As with most resorts, there’s a group putting out towels at 6 am for preferred locations where they sit unoccupied for much of the day.

Had a wonderful experience at the Playa Grande Spa. In particular would like to thank Macrina for a great massage. The whole time there was relaxing and accommodating by the staff. The saltwater pool overlooking the resort was a perfect ending.

For us, it started with the bellmen. We gave them our luggage and never received a ticket for them. When we went back to get them they were not sure where my luggage was and they tried to give us some of the other people's stuff, never explaining what we needed to do to get our stuff upstairs. Then we went to the registration desk where we were told that we only had reservations for one night, I pulled out all my paperwork and said no we paid for the 8th-14th through booking.com. I have proof that everything was taken out of my account and that the confirmations are right here. The guys said I am so sorry but I don't have it here and we have no rooms available. I called booking.com and they said they would call Playa Grande and confirm it. Booking.com said that they are going to give you a room for tonight and then move you to your room until the 14th tomorrow, just go down to them in the morning. We went down to hear him say that we didn't have a room again and that nothing was paid. The proof that I had meant NOthing to him. wE WERE TOLD AGAIN THAT THEY DIDN'T HAVE A ROOM AND I GOT ONLINE AND I booked one more night because I had to pay for it again. I called booking.com for the nights of the 10-14th because again he is saying that they didn't have a reservation for us. Booking.com spoke with the reservation department Matha she confirmed everything was paid and that the booking was made. The guy at the desk said that he had to get the information from the reservation department but didn't know who Martha was. He said that he would have it all done in the morning when we switched rooms again. The next day again told that they did not have a room not paid for, and we had to pay it again, OMG it was horrible. We had to have a friend that owns there come down to talk to them because all of us were so upset over this. My bank kept seeing this and put a stop to my card. Lynn put his card on the room and we paid him. The trip cost so much more than we planned because we were charged multiple times. Again this was a nightmare thank God for our friend that were there or we would of left.
