I have good feedback and bad news about Langdon Hall. The grounds are beautifully kept and the spa while small and quaint is lux. The massage was high quality, with only one rude spa staff of multiple. They neglect an open and accessible pool, included by their competitors. Most of the staff seem kind and attentive in the main house. The rooms and dining room seem over priced when compared to other upscale vintage hotels. Here is the problem, there are many staff that constantly follow you around this property. I mean multiple cars circle you in the parking lot, sit in the back staring at you. They follow you to the trails. Come out to supervise you every 5 minutes at the spa. Diligently follow you around every crook and cranny of the main house. As a solo traveller, it was very uncomfortable to experience a large dark suv with black windows following you around the parking lot, then stock you from the back. Later, I tried to finally lose the tense following staff to use the washroom, and nope a man quickly turns coming after you, he comes down the stairwell and along the creepy basement corridor after you, I though he was headed strait into the stall with me. After 6 hours of this staff behaviour, this type of stocking is a breach of client human right to freedom. As a solo traveller I have travelled internationally and locally extensively and have never encountered such a problem. Other upscale hotels, Prince of Wales, Queens landing, Royal York exercise a normal level of supervision leaving comfort. Langdon hall is intense and uncomfortable. Do not travel here alone, the invasive staff stocking you at night in the parking lot and to the bathroom is very uncomfortable and inappropriate.

After dinner I got extremely sick and I was up the whole night with diarrhea/vomiting and only started to recover around 130pm the next day. Food & Beverage director took a few days to get back to me and said I likely have a deep food sensitivity. I don’t have allergies or sensitivities. I asked for a refund of dinner and he offered lunch for two and I said it would be inconvenient for me to drive back for lunch and get childcare. He never responded back to me. There were also little things throughout the day - we came early they said they would let us know if room was ready early. We mentioned if it’s not ready early to leave our bags at the front so we could change for spa appointment - they ended up taking our bags anyway. So we had to have them bring it back down. They said the room was ready but wasn’t inspected so we couldn’t go in. When I was extremely sick there was one guy at the front who seemed hesitant to let me checkout beyond 1pm - even though I explained I physically could not go home yet until my stomach settled. I thought it was a bit rude and insensitive. He said “let’s play it by ear”. Poor service!! While the grounds were lovely - the room was spacious but a bit tired and needs a refresh. The spa service itself was great but the spa facilities were lackluster - seems like what you would get at a 3 star Marriott hotel. I much prefer the Four Seasons spa which has much nicer facilities - save yourself the drive.

We wanted a special night away for something different to do and see. My husband chose this location. Who knew there was something this nice in Cambridge? Gorgeous rooms. Property was expansive. We enjoyed the claw foot tub in our room with the wonderful bath bomb supplied. Service was beyond what I expected. Steam room was great too! Spent next day by the pool. Food and restaurant service was amazing. Highly recommend a night away here.

This past weekend my partner and I had the opportunity to enjoy the Grand Tasting Menu experience and it was everything we were hoping for. We have dined and enjoyed several types of tasting menu experiences over the years but this really stood out to us. The presentation of the dishes were so visually appealing but the type of plate ware as well was very unique to the dishes themselves; which added to the overall enjoyment. The flavors were elegant and fresh, portion sizes fair but not much. It was difficult to choose a favorite after it was completed which is always a great sign. Each course seemed to outshine the next with an excellent balance of flavors. The service element to this experience was a real treat and a stand out highlight. Tyler was our server; more of a culinary guide to be honest. His explanations with each course were more than simply that; he consistently found a way to tell a story connecting each dish to the property or Chef Jason himself. That is truly something we have never seen or experienced. That level of service requires more than training, a lot of servers can memorize and reproduce. Tyler demonstrated true passion, integrity and professionalism. He represented the experience at the highest level and was the perfect complement to the cuisine. Even with multiple guests to take care of, when he approached our table never once was the story rushed or his attention deflected. With experience within the industry that’s not easy; well done!!! We left dinner (more like a culinary show) feeling like royalty. Thank you Langdon Hall, Chef Jason, and Tyler for creating a lasting memory and experience that will never be forgotten.

We were guests at a recent wedding at Langdon Hall and were fortunate to snap up the last available room for the night. It was our first time at Langdon and we were pleasantly surprised. We had heard good things from others about the food. We arrived at Langdon a few hours ahead of the wedding and elected to sit outside the main building in one of the shaded outdoor seating areas. Listening to the falling water and splash of a water feature into a small man made pond with lovely background music wafting through the air we felt like we were at a country estate in Ireland or somewhere else in Europe, not 1 1/2 hours outside Toronto. With the wonderful atmosphere we enjoyed some drinks and snacks and just felt so relaxed, already planning another visit. The main building has all sorts of areas to lounge in as well as a room with a pool table, scrabble and other games. We had a lovely cloister room (room 24) with a small outdoor patio, a super plush queen bed, great air conditioning, tv, free wifi, a wood burning fire place, seating area, a soaking tub and separate shower. The linens were high end by Au Lit and a Dyson hair dryer. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and you will enjoy a walk through the vegetable gardens with super tall stalks of corn, sunflowers and all sorts of wonderful greens that are cut and used to prepare hotel meals. While we didn’t use the pool we did peek through the gate and there was ample seating and it looked really lovely. Our time didn’t allow us to spend any time at the spa so we’ll look forward to that some other time. Breakfast is expensive at $52 but it was delicious and well plated. We can’t wait to go back.
