Rising from the site of a grand old Canary Islands estate is the decade-old Gran Hotel Bahia del Duque, situated on the south coast of Tenerife and part of Leading Hotels of the World. Spread across 17 subtropical acres, this Spanish resort resembles a magnificent village, with a collection of nearly two dozen oceanfront buildings housing spacious rooms and suites, many with seaside views. The resort is completely full service, with 6 swimming pools, a trio of tennis courts, two squash courts, a fitness center, massage therapy, putting green and plenty of water activities.

This is a very comfortable hotel where the staff are all friendly and helpful with an excellent understanding of English. A five star experience and a five star hotel - made so by the staff ! The hotel itself lies on a gentle slope with terraced areas nicely manicured with indigenous plants by the gardeners. Pathways interlace from one space to another. But don't worry if you can't manage the trek up and down the slopes from rooms , restaurants and pools, as they have a buggy service . And if you're into fitness there's a great Spa area and I've seen (but not bothered with) water aerobics ! The hotel isn't new but has the benefit of being upgraded and of course being a bit older the rooms are more spacious with great views. I have tried both the Italian and Brasserie restaurants. Both serve good food with excellent service but I find the Brasserie has a more laid back feel which is perfect for a vino at lunch time in the sun - and not overpriced for a 5* hotel People with small children may like it here - there's a great pool dedicated to children. But maybe older kids will fin d it a bit too relaxed here. The hotel and resort is a short 10 minute ride from the resort of Playa de Las Americas where all of the action is. This place is ideal for those wanting a slower pace for a holiday or are happy to take a taxi to the busy nightlife elsewhere has to offer in Tenerife. BTW - there's a great shopping mall nearby.....

Another great stay at Bahia , well done to all the team, there are so many staff members who are all very friendly and they have the breakfast set up down to a tee ! Cleanliness is superb and the restaurant choice is fantastic, our fourth visit in a year !

We visited as a couple, 7 nights B&B, 4th visit to Costa Adeje. Breakfast was really good, lots of choice of eggs, freshly cooked mini burgers, waffles, fruits, nuts, meats, cheeses, cakes and more. The pool areas and overall hotel are beautiful, there are plenty of sunbeds and towels. It’s easy to go for a walk or run along the beachfront and the beach is lovely. There are lots of steps at the hotel to be aware of and you might want to wear something other than flip flops. The fitness programme is good, the trainer was excellent and we did aqua and spin. Before 11am the pool area is very serene and I loved it, so if you’re an early riser you can get a few hours there and lounge or read a book. In the afternoons there was quite loud music on many days from about 1pm until 4pm (and aqua was 12pm to 1pm) and it just seemed too long for such a resort. I resorted to noise cancelling headphones. To move to a quieter area would be closer to the family swimming area or completely away from the area. There was a children’s pool. There was also only one heated pool and that often had families with young children too. We went outside of school holidays. I don’t think there’s an adult pool. There are lots of beautiful pools that are not heated, but for us we found them breathtaking cold and we hardly went in which is unusual. We found the sea to be better temperature. Lunches were generally a bit disappointing. Crab salad was crab sticks, chips only just cooked, paella was the wrong version and cost more etc. The beach restaurant (hotel owned) on the beach for lunch was great (sardines, prawns, gazpacho). For dinner we were disappointed by La Hacienda (very salty food, lack of service and poor seating). We tried to book dinner at two other restaurants but they were booked or unavailable. We went to the Playa Duque shopping centre 5 minutes away and found a casual cafe with nice, less expensive salads for lunch. And at the other end of the spectrum we can recommend the Michelin restaurant El Rincon de Juan Carlos for dinner which we walked to. Also La Torre Mirador, and Moon for a cheaper meal (rabbit stew). It is a lovely hotel with a mix of couples and extended family groups and the staff are really nice, the lunches and too much music were the slight downside for us and it needed a little more cleaning in communal areas. If we went again we’d want to book restaurants in advance, even for lunch and understand the music activities.

We love this hotel and come 2 or 3 times a year. We always stay in the Casa Ducales and everything from the staff to the room and the food is fantastic. It’s a very special hotel. They offer a personal touch and we know you would really enjoy visiting

Arriving is the Bahia del Duque is like coming home. Every guest is treated like a family member. A service is offered that you would only consider possible in a Boutique hotel. The resort is located directly on the most beautiful white sandy beach in Tenerife. And they serve the best breakfast in the world.
