Nestled along the beach in Cancun's hotel zone, the JW Marriott Cancun Resort & Spa constitutes a quiet refined oasis among the surrounding din. Elegant details set the resort apart from its peers. A delicate flower scent permeates the welcoming lobby and guests can frolic around four outdoor swimming pools. The infinity-edged main pool threads through the landscaped grounds and fronts the pristine powdery sand. Jump the diving pool's deep end and explore the built-in artificial reef. Dotted with beach chaise loungers and shady palapas, the 700-foot beach beckons to linger. The cerulean ocean is the resort's ubiquitous backdrop and all 448 rooms have private balconies where to take in the view. Appointed in classic style, roomy accommodations (the smallest measures 465 square feet) feature sitting areas with lively color accents, wireless Internet access, 32-inch flat-panel televisions and twice-daily maid service. Bathrooms are exquisitely marble-bedecked with separate tubs and showers.

The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, shower great, coffee is illy, nothing to need or want in the room. The pools .... look.. if you're somewhere cold and trying to figure out where to go to relax in luxury and warmth without being in an all-inclusive, this is the place. The service was excellent, good selection of food and drinks poolside, quick access to the beach and an elevator that takes you straight to the rooms without having to go through the lobby. My stay was short, only two nights as I traveled inland to the ruins for several days. My only dining experience was the Pizza place in the gift shop which was okay. I also had room service and the breakfast buffet which I'll touch on further below. There is ample free self-parking and convenience stores within walking distance. That's the end of the review unless you're a Marriott Elite, if so continue reading. I'm a Titanium Elite and booked my room with points. During the check-in process I was told I qualify for an upgrade, and that it would cost $150 USD additional per night. I declined. I was traveling alone and really didn't need more than a basic room. I asked if there was a clubhouse and was told that because I'm a Titanium member I could access the club for $250 USD extra per night. I declined. Next I was asked if I would like a welcome gift such as points OR a continental breakfast. I mentioned that my understanding was that my status entitled me to both, but was told I could chose only one; I opted for the points rather than what sounded like a small breakfast. Anyhow.. none of this was a disaster, other than it stayed on my mind even while sitting by the pool in what can only be described as paradise... so I spoke with a manager about it. She was very kind and understood my frustration with what seemed to be the hotel not keeping up with Marriott's end of the Titanium deal that requires us customers to stay 100 nights in Marriott hotels each year, or easier said almost 1 out of 4 nights of the year. Here's what she explained: 1) There are suite upgrades that are available to Titanium members for free, but none were available when I checked in so I was offered a higher level suite for a cost. This seemed reasonable. 2) The Club apparently has some very high end items on the buffet that warrant the extra cost. This seems reasonable, but in my opinion the hotel should set up a single room with a coffee maker and fridge with water, sodas, milk and call it an elite member pantry or something. Put some pastries and fruits in there in the morning. 3) Breakfast. The manager asked me to try the "Continental" breakfast the next day at no charge and said she expected me to be surprised. Well, she was correct, in fact I was shocked. This was one of the most comprehensive breakfast buffets I've ever seen complete with an omelet station, every type of meat, eggs, vegetables, pastries, waffles, pancakes, crepes, and even lunch items (this was at 8am). I'm still scratching my head wondering who in marketing decided to call this a Continental breakfast. It's the equivalent of a supermodel wearing baggie clothes and a baseball cap so as to not be noticed. Anyway, hopefully someone will get the message and rename this to something like a "Royal Breakfast Buffet". In closing ... the the challenges as a Titanium member needed to be mentioned, but did not take away from the amazing resort, the extremely kind and competent staff and the vacation experience as a whole which is why gave it 5 stars. My recommendation to fellow elites is to call the hotel in advance to work out any of the details of your benefits in advance. The management does seem interested in extending benefits where they can, and it's probably easier for them to help while you're considering booking.

I stayed at the hotel 20 years ago, and it was great then. I went back in January 2025 and stayed for a week. It is an old resort, but it has been renovated. It is clean, conveniently located within walking distance of many restaurants and shopping, and has good service and professional staff!

My stay was exceptional. From every interaction I had with each employee to the beautiful rooms and view, I definitely plan on coming back, bringing friends, and recommending this hotel to everyone visiting Cancun. Whether you're with traveling with a family and kids or solo (like me) the hotel has accommodations and activities for everyone. Enrique the houseman and the girl (I think her name starts with an S) that checked me in really set the tone for my amazing stay. During my stay I made sure to check out the spa and Laura, my masseuse, worked magic on my back and gave me the most relaxing facial. She was very knowledgeable about the products she used and customized everything to my needs for my skin. I spent ample time on the beach as well where they have activities such as jet skiing or parasailing offered right there for you to try at any moment. Room service was also phenomenal, I felt so luxurious, and they never let me lift a finger while serving me. Lastly, I like to give a special shoutout to Riccardo at Bravo, who I met during breakfast at my last morning there. We had such a lovely conversation, and he was super attentive to my every need even though I was there for the self service breakfast buffet. This was my first stay at a Marriot in Cancun, and as a solo traveler, I felt super safe staying at the resort. From one employee in hotels to another, I learned so much from the service here that I will definitely take back with me to my job in New York. All in all, the perfect relaxing weekend. Thank you to everyone for making my stay so special.

After being severely disappointed for one night at an Adult " all inclusive" I decided to make the right decision and switch to the JW Marriott. As a Titainium elite with Marriott it was definitely the right one. The property is gorgeous. Clean and magnificent. The location is superb. The beach and crystal blue waters are to die for. Each room is spacious and the balconies are some of the largest I have experienced from which to see both the sunrise and sunsets. I was offered a few choices as a gift becuase of my status. If you are an eleite with Marriott absolutely choose the BREAKFAST. One of the best brekfast buffets i have experienced anywhere in the world. Classic breakfast buffet but with mexican and chinese accents. Our servers SERGIO and his buddy Eleasar ( Chunga) were SUPERB. My coffee was never empty, when we would come back to the table they would grab our plates to help us, any request was filled pronto. They helped make the experience great. above and beyond service. This is the happiest staff I have encountered. A happy staff equals great service and a great stay. We chose not to leave the property on a few nights and were glad we stayed. Gustino--the italian restuarant is as god as ANY upscale Italian in Cancun. Bravio , the spanish option has the best filet we ever ate outside of a top steak house. The secret is the " Speak Easy"....with a secret enterance....fabulous bar....and also great menu. the TACOS were incredible and authentic. Don't be sucked in to some of these other " all inclusives". The JW is classic, elegant, and timeless. Total relaxation. WE WILL RETURN SOON.
