With its brilliantly white Art Deco-style façade anno 1923, storied Majestic Barrière Cannes epitomizes French Riviera luxury lifestyle along tony Boulevard La Croisette. Located across from the red-carpeted Palais de Festivals, where Hollywood A-listers strut their stuff during the famous film festival, the hotel Grand Dame wows guests with an expansive lobby dominated by dramatic champagne-colored columns, twinkling chandeliers and polished antiques-furnished seating areas. 265 brightly elegant rooms occupy a total of 7 floors and sleek dark-hued furniture is smartly balanced with crimson splashes and eye-catching floral images in gilt frames. Rooms provide must-have gadgetry like Bose iPod docks, wireless Internet access, plus flat-screen televisions, and, for the no-delay pick-me-up in the AM, Nespresso machines are on hand. Black marble-clad bathrooms show off equally dapper design and are kitted out with separate bathtubs and showers as well as bespoke toiletries.

What to say? This is a mixed review… Hospitality from another century. Usually try to avoid Cote d’Azur like plague… Had to stay in the area for a night, decided for Majestic because of its location and wasn’t disappointed, it is second to none. Arrived early, around 2PM. Valet and bellman were extremely efficient. Room wasn’t ready, but undergoing “final inspection” so was available around 3PM, 1 hour before official check in time. Room (suite) was spacious and clean. Bed was truly big and comfortable. And that’s about it. 1.No hot water in the bathtub. Maintenance showed up promptly and made the repair. 2.Complimentary water is in the minibar fridge, good. Problem when you need water at 11PM and the door doesn’t open. Second visit of the maintenance staff. Fridge was not powered so remote lock couldn’t be controlled from the front desk and, more than anything, nothing was cold in the fridge. Tape was applied to the locking pin so door could be open, but the fridge never cooled anything as it was not powered. 3. TV was shutting down every 10 to 15 minutes. Had to restart every time to keep on watching it. Didn’t bother to call the maintenance for a third time… You wonder what “final inspection” was about. Front desk was extremely slow to answer the phone. Breakfast was well under par for a hotel of that category. But hot chocolate was probably the best I’ve ever had. One last thing, you must go through the restaurant to get to the swimming pool, feels pretty strange. Will not return.

Unfortunately our trip to this hotel didn’t go as planned and left us with a real sour taste in our mouths. I’d booked the trip for my girlfriends birthday was all going well until her Apple Watch was taken from our room. At first we thought maybe this got caught up in the laundry so we locked the watch to make sure no personal info was taken from it. We logged the incident with the hotel and they checked cctv and apparently the staffs lockers (not sure why they would be stupid enough to keep it on site) but this all came to no avail. The day we returned we got a notification on the ‘find my’ apple app that the watch had been ‘sufficiently charged’ that morning …. So this proves the watch was taken - luckily I don’t think whoever stole this is able to use the watch unless there is some way they can factory reset. This was a real shame and put a downer on the last night as you don’t expect these things to happen and put trust in the hotel and their staff. Guest relations did try to help but most recent correspondence was to ‘contact the police’ Would advise anyone staying here in the future to be very wary of possessions as it’s clear the staff can’t be trusted - admittedly we didn’t use the safe but still this shouldn’t happen at a well respected hotel Apart from this the pool and surroundings were nice and well kept, just find it very hard to write anything positive after the experience we had

Needs work The location of the hotel is the best thing about it, as was the breakfast buffet, but the reality is, for the price, it’s really quite tired and neglected. Rooms are clean, but very old and outdated, with stained and chipped furniture, uneven rugs, peeling wallpaper, and no plugs at the desk or by the bed. The bathroom as well needs attention, as you will read in several other reviews, there is a problem with the hot water, and the shower heads are old and clogged with mineral debris so there is no water pressure (this at least should be easy to fix). An outlet was also falling out of the wall which a maid tried to fix but couldn’t. Same condition for hallways and other common spaces, it’s clean but very worn, I think if you aren’t staying in one of their “Exceptional Suites,” for the money it’s better to stay at another hotel farther down the Croisette. A few other things to note, the pool is small and not heated so no one swims, and the configuration of the deck is a bit strange and crowded, it’s difficult to find a place to take sun. The private beach across the street has more space with soft sand, but you will be charged a considerable amount just to sit in a chair, I didn’t realize staying at a beach resort doesn’t include the beach for some reason. I will say one other positive is the service, everyone was very kind and helpful, and always answered the phone on the first ring. I think if management invested in redoing the rooms to more modern standards that match other Barriere hotels, I would come back, but for now, unfortunately I think you can get a lot more value for the same price elsewhere.

Absolutely incredible hotel. Luxurious and comfortable. Great location. Breakfast was fantastic. Service was great. Enjoyed relaxing at the pool but also had a beach club across the street. I loved our stay here. Would love to return again.

A wonderful experience with friends at the bar of this prestigious hotel. Emmanuel Balestra is an extraordinary mixologist who even introduced us to the terrace where he grows aromatic herbs for the production of his cocktails. We follow him on Instagram—we have to follow him, it's exceptional. We were just disappointed by a female Uber driver who offered us a tour of the area. She was funny; she had the driver's cap from the '50s American TV series that made us laugh.

At the Majestic Barrière in Cannes, the accommodations were no less than spectacular! The room was very large, nicely appointed, and had a side view of La Croisette. There were fireworks at night over the bay, with all the yachts from places all over the world, below. A fabulous honeymoon we will never forget.
