A haven of warm hospitality since 1816, Congress Hall offers a sublime blend of tradition and elegance. This lovingly restored and expanded monument resides just steps from the Atlantic Ocean, in the heart of Cape May(TM)s historic district on the New Jersey shore. In an atmosphere of serenity, you can linger on a sun-drenched verandah, stroll among hydrangeas, or enjoy a treat from the old-fashioned candy shop. Savor a massage at the Cape May Day Spa, and gather with friends over American fare at the Blue Pig Tavern.

I was not even going to think of reviewing this place, but when I checked out, the concierge asked me how my visit was. I told her flatly, I feel foolish to spend money here. To keep this short, I just like to say that amenity that this place offers and it is a beautiful place and they do offer a lot however they allow anyone to take advantage of their facility. My wife and I were unable to even during three day stay to get a seat at the bar or one of the restaurants. It was so crowded and noisy that even walking in the halls was a difficult thing. By saying I felt foolish I mean that I could’ve went somewheres else stayed for a lot less money And just walked over and use the amenities. It was very disheartening and I will never go back.

We enjoyed every minute of our stay. We highly recommend the Virginia Hotel for those seeking a great getaway in a beautiful location. The breakfast was excellent and room was very cozy and charming. We will be returning in the fall time to spend another fantastic stay at the Virginia Hotel.

My family and I want to congress hall for a four day weekend in June 2024. The pool was large and very warm and there was a huge outdoor lawn with tables. The hotel room felt very cozy and the hotel is in a perfect location in cape may. I loved the hotel and it was amazing.

If you want to visit Congress Hall for Christmas, it’s beautiful, and the decorations are exquisite. Their Winter Wonderland experience is great and the staff is wonderful. Just don’t stay over. The guest experience was awful. The hotel is PACKED with visitors not staying there so amenities such as the Brown Room, Boiler Room, and the beautifully decorated sitting area are overtaken by visitors not staying at the hotel. We were really looking forward to having a drink at the Brown Room, a gorgeous Speak Easy type lounge. It was four people deep at the bar trying to get a drink. Not a single person we spoke with was a hotel guest. Frustrated and no where to sit or an option to get a drink we left. For over $500 a night Congress Hall should be catering their amenities to paying hotel guests especially after the Winter Wonderland area is closed for the night. The hotel is beautiful but that overnight stay was $500+ wasted. When speaking with the front desk I was told yes it’s a busy weekend, it’s like staying during the summer. I have no idea what that has to do with Congress Hall putting into place something regarding amenities and their guests. Go and visit over Xmas, just don’t stay.

We love historic venues and absolutely loved our recent stay at Congress Hall. As we checked out at the end of our stay my wife and I both came up with “classy” to describe the experience. Location is directly amongst the shops and restaurants in the heart of Cape May. We stayed in the ‘Annie Knight Suite’ (which can be quite pricy but we stayed off season so rates were more reasonable). The room was amazing with plenty of space, a large deck overlooking the ocean, and a small kitchen. The staff was attentive and friendly - from the check in staff, the valet, the concierge, housekeeping, the coffee shop guy… everyone. While it’s one of the more expensive accommodations in Cape May it’s absolutely worth the splurge.
