Originally built in 1799 as a private residence, Vineyard Hotel & Spa maintains a gracious manor house feel. This beautifully restored and renovated retreat meanders through 6 acres of landscaped parkland, along the banks of the Liesbeeck River in the leafy Cape Town suburb of Newlands. Bedrooms, suites and cottages offer a diversity of divine views, from a shady Japanese-style courtyard to magnificent Table Mountain. Among three outstanding restaurants is Au Jardin, where you can savor fine French cuisine and superb South African wines.

With respect have to completely disagree with the previous review - we have been at poolside for the last week and there is absolutely no problem getting loungers at the pool area (photo attached of today at the pool) and even though the hotel is full there is plenty of loungers in the reception area at any time of day - the reason the hotel is full is because it is a superb hotel with great service ! The previous contributor also makes the ridiculous statement that the Lebanese restaurant has to much of a eastern influence - laughable, what do they expect - more of a burger and chips environment in a Lebanese restaurant - we would rate it as exceptional and service with a smile from lovely staff !!

We last stayed at the Vineyard about 15 years ago. The hotel has considerably grown in size which has detracted from its intimacy especially as the hotel was full. Our room was comfortable and well appointed but the public areas are too small to house full capacity. There are not any proper lounges for the residents and the swimming pool area becomes incredibly crowded during the day. We found the restaurants generally disappointing - the Morii gastronomic restaurant is too focussed on Middle Eastern dishes which do not appear to have wide appeal. The others are too burger orientated. The Cape has so many good chefs and a hotel of this standard deserves better. The glorious gardens and tortoises save the day but despite this space the hotel felt very full!

A retreat stay and it was wonderful. My husband and I were meeting up with family in CT and stayed here for three nights. The staff are fantastic, so well trained and nothing was too much trouble. The food is excellent, a fabulous breakfast buffet and lots of nice places to sit and chat to family and friends over coffee. The gardens are gorgeous and of course the mountain tortoises are very special. I hope to be back soon.

I am a frequent guest at the Garden Lounge and Long Cafe at the hotel and was hugely disappointed at the poor quality food allied with the increase in prices. The very popular scones have been reduced in size to half, even commented on by the staff, yet the price has inceased. The Cellars Hohenhort hotel is a much better option, with decent portion sizes if you looking for scones and food worth the money spent. The coffee has improved significantly, but the salads are average. It is becoming a space catering only for tourists. A great pity as locals have enjoyed the affordable and quality food it previously had.

One of the best for family and friends hotels.in summer specially the area outside is superb. Like a calming space. So friends stayed in the hotel and they couldn't stop talking what an experience. Room was very good. Lots of facilities in the hotel.
