The historic Mission Ranch sits on 22 acres with spectacular views of Point Lobos, Carmel River Beach and the Pacific Ocean. Once one of the first dairies in California, the rich history of this 1800’s ranch was preserved and restored by former Carmel Mayor, Clint Eastwood. A longtime Carmel resident, Clint Eastwood rescued this landmark resort from condo developers, and renovated the entire property to provide a unique resort experience. The Inn now consists of 31 hotel rooms located within ten buildings on the property.

Nowhere near as good as I expected it to be given the hype. Rooms need an update - the mattress was well past its sell by date and the TV and cable box were from the 1990’s. Our patio looked straight into a hedge (see photos) and saddest of all the staff generally didn’t look like they wanted to be there. In my four interactions with Reception not once did either of the staff working even get out their chairs to speak to me. Getting a room refresh isn’t automatic - it has to be requested from Reception after 10am which is no use if you are out for the day! We ended up with a towel mountain by the end of our three night stay! Acoustics in the room isn’t great either - we stayed in a Ranch Triplex (mid range) and could hear every word the guests next door said. Restaurant was fairly good but there are way better for the same price ticket in the middle of Carmel (see my other reviews). Lovely view from the restaurant patio but once you’ve seen it once…… Trading off of Clint’s name in my opinion - lots of local’s singing along at the piano at the bar in the evening, if that’s what you’re looking for go for it!

Such a shame ! Three nights here on our tour of California ! Right from check in - where we were met by someone who didn’t even stand up then told the rules and - i suggest you read the do’s and dont’s and told if we lose the key it’s a $30 dollar fine - the key is just a key no fob or key ring !!!! Room dated no air con -tv from the 80’s bed - well mattress doesn’t fit so has at least three mattress toppers ! Yes the view is good but drive along 17 mile drive it’s much better ! Oh and if you want your room cleaned you have to ask after 10 am quite hard if you are out for the day - so we have a mountain of dirty towels and rubbish ! Restaurant don’t bother - booked for 7 given a buzzer and made to feel we were in the way - food average much better in town - overall don’t bother - seems to be running off its name and not making any effort at all

Beautiful grounds!! So glad we stayed here. Quiet and serene. The sheep marching in every morning was incredible. The food in the resturant was delicious. So close to nature and the beach.

I have been coming to Carmel for over 40 years and have stayed at many hotels from Highlands Inn to Pebble Beach and this is one of my favorites. The four Plex near the tennis club feels like you’re in your own home. The rooms are cozy, spacious with a beautiful balcony with rocking chairs looking out at the Meadows with sheep deer and the Carmel beach in the background. The room was so quiet with no outside noise, which is unusual for a hotel in Carmel. Parking spots reserved right outside your room. New York 700,000,000 Sabrina at the front desk was professional and very helpful checking in and out and rebooking for next year. All the staff are wonderful. The restaurant on site is delicious with a piano bar for entertainment. The hotel is a little less than a mile from downtown Carmel but the beauty is it so isolated you really feel like you’re on a quiet ranch. The only complaint was the TV is small and dated.

So to correct a previous review * this was a Ranch a working ranch -that word is a broad term in California . Not just for cattle grazing . It can include vegetables and other produce. Thanks to preservation, it’s now a place where locals and tourist can come and celebrate the rich history of Carmel with great views ,music ,and wonderful food Suzanne lottie Trevor and Brent you’re the best ! You all make this place a must see
