Reviews for Casa Pestagua

The best hotel in Cartagena

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Casa Pestagua was superb from start to finish. It’s one of those magical places where on the day we leave, we feel legitimately sad to be saying goodbye to so many kind people who worked tirelessly to make our stay exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like family returning home from a long trip. We were welcomed with smiles and warmth that was genuinely kind, and my wife received balloons, cake, and singing for her birthday that day. It made for a moment that we will remember and cherish. All of this was in the first few minutes of arriving and it only got better from there. The hotel was recently remodeled in 2022 and the room we stayed in was beautiful, spacious, quiet, and comfortable. The pool area was the perfect area to relax each afternoon during peak heat: take a dip, read a book, and enjoy a drink. The fellow guests were quiet and respectful of one another, which we also appreciated. To me, though, the staff is what makes Casa Pestagua the best hotel in all of Cartagena. I realize that I haven’t been to all the other hotels, but I simply can’t imagine a better team. All of them wanted to make sure that we were having the best time we could and would jump at the opportunity to assist in any way possible. Some special shoutouts to folks who we will take home with us in our hearts include: Carlos B. who made every morning the best way to start the day. Katherine whose energy and positively is contagious, and who helped us with our Spanish; she taught us the verb amanecer (nos amanecimos bien). Leo and Brando who helped us plan activities during our time there and perfectly set us up to have unique experiences in environments that allowed for us to make friends with the locals. Brando also made a delicious lunch recommendation for us at Rabo de Pez, which was one of the best meals we had in Cartagena. Huge thanks Brando! German who always welcomed us back to the hotel with a warm smile and a cool towel. Eduardo who always helped us with directions before we headed out each day. Amanda whose positive energy, and fun conversations each afternoon allowed us to share our stories from the day. Carol and Luis Felipe for going above and beyond in service of our meals and in room dining. For those who I failed to mention, that is my fault, not yours. Truly every staff member we met did their absolute best to make sure our time in Cartagena was perfect, and when we returned to Casa Pestagua each day, they made it feel like home. If you want to stay in the best hotel in Cartagena, stay at Casa Pestagua. The people who work there will make it an experience that you’ll never forget. Thank you so much. Dina & John

A home away from home in Cartagena

Our stay at Casa Pestagua was excellent from start to finish. The property itself is amazingly adorned, the room was spacious and charming, and the pool area was always a relaxing space to while away the day. We were consistently impressed by the staff's service and willingness to be of assistance for anything we needed. One of the day trips organized by the hotel was seamlessly organized without any hitches. Breakfast was superb each and every time. Can't recommend this hotel enough when visiting Cartagena!

Very charming & romantic, superb service, luxurious room and great food and bar service

We spent our first three nights in Cartagena at Hotel Casa Pestagua, a Relais Chateaux property and sister hotel of Hotel Casa San Agustin. Excellent location to nearby shops and restaurants, absolute superb service and personal attention by the entire Pestagua team. Breakfast, lunch and dinner in the hotels Animare courtyard restaurant are all fantastic. Lovely pool. Rooms are huge and very well appointed with large walk-in shower, beautiful bed and more. Hotel staff makes all arrangements from airport transfer, private walking tour, restaurant and shopping recommendations all seamlessly very easy. Cannot say enough about the superb personal service of the team. Miguel the restaurant manager did an amazing New Years Eve dinner at the hotel. Leo and Team at the front desk likewise as did the great bar staff in Animare Bar making very well crafted drinks. Highly recommended charming boutique luxury hotel in beautiful Cartagena Old City. Thank you Pestagua Team for making this a very special and memorable stay.

5 STAR HOTEL AT ITS BEST

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Just returned from my first time in Cartagena, Colombia. We were pleasantly surprise of the great energy, vibrancy, rich culture and the beautiful architecture of the city of Cartagena. The biggest surprise was hotel Casa Pestagua. Didn’t know about this hotel, but because the intended hotel was sold out, Leslie in reservation mentioned there was an availability at the sister hotel, which was Casa Pestagua. This was the best decision. Firstly arriving at the Grand light open and airy mansion was impressive, then greeted with a cold lavender hand towel, topped off by a refreshing watermelon drink was just the beginning. The hotel staff from the bell man, to Leo at the front desk, welcomed us and right away made us feel at home. We were then given a quick tour by Leo of the property before arriving at our elegantly decorated room filled with light and stunning architecture. The next morning at breakfast we explained to Carlos the waiter our very strict habits of eating and the entire restaurant team made sure it was carried out every day. The hotel leader by the name of Katherine introduced herself and the rest was history. Being in the luxury space myself, I have a clear understanding and know the importance of service culture, she exceeded all expectations. Katherine was attentive, caring and made us feel as thought we had stepped into a time warp of a true 5 star Luxury hotel and the guest experience and energy, you can feel started with her and continued with the entire team, at every touch point from the Housekeeping to front of the house staff you feel the great energy of a team spirit at this property. This hotel and experience hands down is what a true Luxury Hotel is made of all due to the leader and staff. Thank you team Casa Pestagua for an amazing first time in Cartagena.
