This property is an awesome boutique hotel located in the center of the Old City. Walkable to the best restaurants, cafes and bars only steps away. The entrance is like entering a quiet, tranquil space in the center of the city. It’s a historic building with an inviting heated pool in the center of the lobby, a nice place after exploring the city. The rooms are very large with vaulted ceilings with canopy beds and some with balconies. Breakfast was spectacular with the freshest fruits, fresh pastries and a menu of Caribbean dishes that were delicious. Everyone who works at this hotel is as a delight, very sophisticated and professional. Their restaurant is 5 stars for dinner with Authentic Colombian dishes and also a great bar for an early drink before dinner.

This hotel kept rising to the top during the course of my trip research to the point where I really didn't want to stay anywhere else. Although there were a couple of minor hiccups, my family and I had a lovely stay here and would highly recommend. The hotel is centrally located in the heart of Cartagena and is walkable to just about everything in the Old City and Getsemani, but inside the gates, it is a serene and kind of magical space. . It is an old, historic property full of character and charm and I especially loved the courtyard pool. I got the impression that there is some variance in the rooms, so you may want to keep that in mind while booking. We shared two rooms for five of us (a deluxe king for my husband and me and a junior suite for my three kids) and please note that they do charge for more than two people per room. Because of the hotel's configuration, many of the rooms (at least ours) did not get a ton of natural light and were a bit dark. The service was friendly overall, but in the restaurant was a bit slow. I appreciated the nightly turn-down service. With regard to the minor hiccups I referenced above, everything was resolved quickly and professionally. I can't think of a better place to have stayed during our first trip to Cartagena!

We loved this hotel! It was perfection from the minute we walked in the door. We were greeting by a warm staff, offering us hand towels and a refreshing drink. The rooms were large, clean and beautifully appointed. The bar and restaurant were both great and the breakfasts, in particular, were amazing. But the best asset of this hotel was the warm and accommodating staff that bent over backwards to make our visit perfect. The front desk/concierge staff were top notch and organized dinner reservations, tours and a cooking class. The location of the San Agustin was perfect - inside the city and walkable to everything that we did. Highly recommend!

From the moment you step off the busy streets of Old Town Cartagena into Casa San Agustin you feel a sense of calm, peace and serenity. The attention to detail from the refreshing welcome drink, to the original scents that flow through the hotel, makes it memorable experience.

Book it. That is all I can say. The staff, the smells, the rooms, the pool, the spa, the library, the art; any would have been amazing on their own, but collectively it made for an amazing trip and the best hotel at which I've ever stayed. I would also highly recommend booking the private boat to the beach. Just wow. I'm always skeptical of reading glowing reviews but I hope my sincerity comes through because Casa San Agustin and the staff deserve it. If you even think it, somehow someone from the staff seems to already know and like magic they are their with whatever your little heart desires.
