If it was not for most workers who are wonderful, I would rate this property as the worst I have ever stayed at. I contacted the property thru their website and requested a suite with a sea view (they do not exist), Web page indicated that they are an all adults property (they are not). When we arrived at around noon, I was told that I had to pay for lunch and beverages as my all inclusive plan did not start until 3pm?. They only have 2 restaurants and you can only do reservations 2 times at their A La Carte restaurant which only has about 4 food items that are included in the all inclusive plan. On our second reservation it took over 2 hours to get our food! Our room had cracks on the walls, a toilet door that did not work, broken and cracked tiles and no music source (radio or blue tooth speaker), on TV there are only four channels, the mini fridge was not re stocked on second night. There are no restaurants or stores within walking distance. There is major construction on 3 sides of the property, carpet around main pool is soiled and very deteriorated, the A La Carte restaurant is off property and you have to walk about a block to reach it, at night you are told to be cautious walking back to your room as there is no security off property. Entertainment was provided by a a great DJ, but very limited and ends early. Food is not all that good at their buffet restaurant. Alcoholic beverages are limited to the cheapest brands, you have to pay extra for Chivas, JW Black Label, good vodka or Tequila. Most of the staff with the exception of their reception personnel were great and bent over backwards to make our stay tolerable. I blame management for most issues, we left the property at 6am and they did not even have Coffee, much less breakfast. Needless to say, I will never return to this property.

First, I booked this " Resort" more like a 1 star Motel - 6 months in advance. Upon our arrival, the driveway was packed with trucks and a half-naked man washing his van in front of the hotel. Once we got to the Reception, it took them around 30 minutes to get us to a room. ( They told us to wait for welcome drinks- additional 20 minutes). - Once they gave us the drinks they told us to find out room pretty much on our own- they didn't offer any shown or tour of the facility. Upon arriving to our room- there was a HUGE MASS Construction site going on Infront of our room- very loud and noise. * upon opening the door we notice a foul smell- we started to inspect the bathroom and we noticed BLACK MOLD in the shower! - GROSSSS and VERY DANGEROUS. - We decided to request a room change, which they did. Once we changed rooms- we decided to get drinks and use the pool - ( There was no one person around to offer services) we waited by the pool for like 10 minutes when a man came and said there was not bartender available that we had to go to the main bar. We arrived to the main bar, a girl came and we ask her to offer us the alcohol were included with our " All inclusive Experience" She offered us - Silver tequila and Don Julio- We of course choose Don Julio - Two shots. Once we drank the shots, she came back to us with a $200.000 pesos bill- ( We were in shocked and asked why she was charging us when we asked her to offer us drinks that were part of our "All inclusive Experience") She said she DIDNT KNOW THAT DON JULIO WAS NOT INCLUDED-……… Well isn't that your job to know?….. why are you serving us if you lack training and now we are stuck with a bill. We refused to pay, as this was her mistake not ours………. Then the women managers was there present the whole time and she didn’t bother to correct her employees mistake. Instead she came to us and tried to pursue us to pay- ( Making us feel bad- saying that if we didn't paid- it will be deducted from her paycheck). We were were upset at the BAD EXPERIENCE ( black mold, construction, no tour, etc) we were already having with them, then they send us a GUY to speak to us and make us pay, we refused ( I offered to pay for 1 shot so they would stop harassing us and looking at us in a very rude way, DISCRIMINATING US, and I am native Spanish speaker! imagine if we didnt speak any Spanish they were just bad. After that, the little staff present there were looking at us funny and we didn't feel safe nor welcome at all. We ordered appetizers which took over ( 1 hour to arrive to our table), when there was not other people besides us. ( They told us that SNACK time is the best time) Probably the only good thing. We decided to wait for dinner service- ( Which was serve in a basement - Restaurant) WORSE!!! The food was serve in blue pans about 5 of them. ( Dinner options - Cut up hotdogs, white rice, there was no more fish) a chicken soup and lots of bread). Not very appetizing. The food smelled funny and it didn't look appetizing. There was no any entertainment offered- so we found ourselves drinking in a hotel lobby with 2 other couples in there, that was it - no one more single person around, no entertainment, no nothing!!! We decided to take a walk to the beach, which was not part of the hotel- You have to walk down this sketchy drive way to get to the FISHER restaurant to even access the beach. There was no any security in or outside the hotel. ( The hotel mélia doesn’t have access to beach, you need to walk through fisher) and upon that you cannot use the small pool the restaurant has, and the chair at the beach are not beach chairs) 😂 you have to walk on this deteriorating wood to even access the beach) unsafe. Less then 24 hours: After all these incidents and bad moments, we decided to wake up and give it a fresh start. We go downstairs ( o yes) THERE IS ONLY ONE RESTAURANT NOT 3 LIKE THEY SAY. The only restaurant In a BASEMENT breakfast- hot dogs, for breakfast in an adult resort! What a joke!, bread, more bread, rancid eggs, whole fruit without being cut (literally the whole kiwi, apple, oranges) no sever. and if there was one she didn’t welcomed us nor acknowledged us. ( There were less then 4 tables with people) I took a tamale ( put a bite in a mouth and it was the WORSE PIECE OF FOOD I HAVE EVER HAD- I had to spit it out and told the lady the tamales were bad- she didn't even said, Sorry nor removed them from the serving station. She said she can offer eggs, which i accepted. They also teased it as if they were cooked with bad water and they were horrible. We decided to book another Resort and leave this horrible place. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR DO NOT USE THIS HOTEL EVER! I am also waiting for a re-found which who knows if I will get, they said they are under new ownership , they don't answer their emails not phone lines! I hope this review gets to the new owners, because this was a horrible experience, If your staff is not trained to provide a service, then you shouldn't call yourself a " 5 star Adults All Inclusive Resort" if you cannot provide such service.

If your idea is to spend a quiet, relaxing couple of days, this location and all-inclusive package serves its purpose. It's quiet, relaxing and convenient. The buffet food was not 5-star but it was good. The food in the Fish House is pricey but definitely worth it, high-quality and delicious. The main pool was big and the bar was accessible. The all-included alcohol was a huge plus, we could get wine at lunch and dinner and beer/cocktails everywhere else. The minibar alcohol was also included. The adults-only restriction helps to have a calm environment. We did have several issues during our stay and after several attempts to get them resolved, the manager finally stepped in and made up for it with a courtesy lunch at the Fish House.

Just not up to Melia's standards, our room was nice, roomy BUT DIDN'T HAVE HOT OR WATRM WATER - Food was just not up to Melia's standards, not a lot of variety. One is a cafeteria, the other small bites and the 3rd a seafood restaurant that you will have to pay more, even though we received the premium package the meal was just fair. Pool is run down, tiles falling off, off the beaten path to get to tours, although Ubers are inexpensive. This resort has so much potential, just a shame it't not meeting it.

Delicious food. I recommend the “cazuela cartagenera” a sea food soup with a lot of shrimps, octopus and calamari. The soup comes with coconut rice and patacón (fried plantains). Colombia is a must Beautiful place and sea view. Good service
