Reviews for Windjammer Landing Villa Beach Resort

Wonderful hotel!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

Wonderful property and lovely staff! We had a 3 bedroom gorgeous villa overlooking the front the resort. We absolutely loved our room at the top of the hill. The customer service was exceptional. From the moment we walked into the resort until we left on a boat to head to the airport; the service was great. We were welcomed with a cocktail upon our arrival and immediately taken to our room. Even the kids got welcome drinks! The resort was beautifully decorated for Christmas. Things we enjoyed and appreciated the most were the kids activities on the beach all day long. The water sports and climbing equipment were so much fun. The food was good; we really enjoyed the breakfast buffet. The concierge was attentive to my needs and booked dinner reservations for us off property. We will be back for sure!!

Great hotel, but Windjammer has ruined the beach

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

This review is not for the hotel....all rooms are lovely - most with ocean views...our suite was very spacious. There are 5 restaurants, all good, we especially liked the Indian food. Huge pool - great for kids. Unfortunately, Winjammer has ruined the beach...belonging to the people of St Lucia, corporate has decided to cover every square inch of this beach with deck chairs. It was not always like this, certainly not 2 years ago during our first stay, but someone in corporate decided that is was not necessary for anyone to actually see the beach, only that guests always have a chaise to lie on. How can this happen? When we were there, 80% of the chaises were not used...disappointing, is it even legal to do this?

Excellent holiday at Windjammer Landing

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

It’s as good as ever to be back at Windjammer Landing. We were there in September 2024 and this is a much intended review I forgot to post. There are a whole host of positive changes this year which is good to report. There has been a lot of attention on the beach since we were here last year. The deck chairs have all been replaced with lovely metal frames with thick padded cushions. A dark blue dress towel is then placed on top with the Windjammer logo, plus you then have new blue and white towels to add. The quality of the dress towel and the normal towels is of a good thick quality and all fresh each morning from the new towel hut. The tables and sun loungers are washed down and cleaned every morning by Shevron keeping everything clean for the start of the day. The waiter service is fast and efficient with numerous beach waiters constantly offering Water, glass cleaning wipes menus and of course cocktails. Our personal thanks has to go to Keenan. He is definitely the hardest working person on the beach. He works tirelessly from start to finish always with a smile and keen to help. Haige and Junior have kept us well topped also, with newcomer ‘Stetch’ (6’ 8”!) All under the watchful eye of Liam who patrols the beach ensuring all is well. Getting around the resort which is on steep hills means the shuttle service runs 24hrs a day. Justin and Brent are two faces we recognised and now newcomer Ali. How any of the drivers get round the resort and pass each other on the narrow roads with such nimbleness is a mystery to all residents. Masala has really gone up a notch this year with an amazing Butter Chicken on the menu. Dragonfly menu also has sushi and there is a tapas menu. The food menus are really good this year I’m pleased to report. Dragonfly breakfast has a large choice available. Eggs any way, continental, and a full selection of fried breakfast. Francis and Mavis we there to greet us each morning with a smile and cheer. Pilates is available and even yoga Pilates in the swimming pool. Niana is excellent and has quite a following when her classes are being held. As always the water sports centre is exceptional. Gordon and his team, Denver, Shurundi, Anthony, Mario, and Ja Marl to name a few all work tirelessly. They deliver the best equipment, tuition and waterskiing anywhere in the Caribbean. Everything works and is clean and is well maintained. June still keeps a watchful eye over everything at Papa Don’s. There is always a great ambience with the best musicians in the resort playing there each night. Two stand out musicians are the young violin player Michael Fletcher and his rendition of ‘The Devil came to Georgia’ and Irving s Lockar. Irving is a consummate professional. A wide repertoire with varied styles from Nat King Cole to George Michael We have our flights booked already and are looking forward to returning in September again.

First time travelers beware!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Beware of the pictures on the website and confirm the room you’re getting before you get there. We booked a 2 BR villa and got a 2BR unrenovated place and they refused to move us. The common areas did not have a/c and were too hot to be in and we didn’t have the all inclusive plan. The bathrooms were fine but outdated. Just know what you’re getting—not all rooms are created equal. The staff at the hotel were lovely but the management were pretty incompetent and didn’t know how to deal with the situation. They offered us next to nothing. From what I could gather the hotel caters to a returning crowd and knows the rest of the travelers are one time only customers (unless they’re friends of a villa owner and then they’re treated differently)! Not surprisingly they have vip codes on their lists of guests with at least 3 levels of vips; villa owners, friends of, and returning guests. (That was from a sneak peek at the hostess’ list). The common areas are beautiful; adequate number of beach chairs. On pro side, this was not a snobby clientele and everyone was super friendly. As were many of the staff, Travis, Gemma, and several others. It is too bad the management didn’t treat all of their guests with respect.

Beautiful location, very poor & frequent lack of attention to detail

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Firstly, the location is EXCEPTIONALLY beautiful, the beach & pool are very pleasant, the choice of restaurants on property are good to quite good - and the staff members overall try very hard and have a nice attitude to guests. Rena on the beach, Yannick at breakfast, Lawrence on omelette station, Valencia in the bar - all were excellent. What was consistently and alarmingly disappointing given the high price was the LARGE STRUCTURAL LACK OF ATTENTION TO SMALL DETAILS. This, in the end, became a repeating refrain of frustration, given the cost of the stay. Almost every guest we spoke to felt the same way. None of these details matter hugely on their own but when all together, it was not good. Check was 3pm. At 3.20pm our room was not ready; to me this is akin to a guest turning up and only saying they will pay 96% of the room rate! We had emailed in advance asking that the sofa bed was to be made up and were assured, ah yes, when we have 3 adults in the 1 bedroom villa, we always make sure it is made up. It was not. Housekeeping, when they did come to make it up, said "sorry, nobody told us that there were 3 adults here." No limes available for a sundowner gin & tonic. Pool towels are the upper pool not available - one had to go to the lower pool to grab pool towels. Gym requipment was broken (bike seat height could not be adjusted, pedals on both bikes were broken) - and other guests told us this had been the case for ten days. We booked a tennis lesson by email with the hotel, were quoted a price, then at the time of the lesson we were told it was a higher price. One employee asked a friend of ours if they would get him lunch as he was hungry - which she did, kind lady, but it raises several questions. Having had to call for new towels, we had to call back after 2 hours because Housekeeping had not managed to bring any. Once more - very small details in isolation, but given the very large price, so many of them grated by the end of our stay and were an annoyance. A less pricey hotel and we would not have felt that way but if Windjammer is trying to be this high end, it should sort this out for guests. Again, a very beautiful location on a gorgeous Island, with extremely friendly people - and a resort that was safe and clean...but which seriously needs management to refocus, be less complacent and get a firm grip with the small details.
