Backpackers trekking through the jungle highlands of Belize a few years ago occasionally stumbled onto a rustic place called Blancaneaux Lodge - then a row of thatched huts above an idyllic valley, where waterfalls drop into granite pools lined with tiger ferns while parrots roost in the palmettos. Francis Ford Coppola himself stumbled upon this same enchanted retreat in the Mountain Pine Ridge reserve in 1981. "I'd been looking for some kind of tropical utopia," Coppola says. "This was the paradise hideaway I was looking for." The rest is history... Welcome to Blancaneaux Lodge.

We absolutely loved our time at the Blancaneaux lodge. It was not crowded while we were there and we all felt like we received VIP treatment. We booked multiple tours through the hotel and they were all fabulous. The ATM cave, not for the faint of heart, was our favorite followed by the horseback to Big rock falls and the Caracal ruins. I visited the spa twice and loved the aromatherapy massage. We had a 2 bedroom villa which was perfect for our family of 4. Falling asleep to the frogs croaking and waterfall then waking up to a view of the lush landscaping and chirping birds was so relaxing. My boys loved riding bikes around the property and up to the horse stables each day. Finally, the food! It was so fresh and delicious. The garden dinner tour was also amazing and we aren’t vegetarians. Highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for an adventure with all the luxuries of a resort, just don’t forget your bug spray!

The Blancaneaux Lodge is truly an amazing place to spend any time. My wife and I spent four nights there in August of 2024 and hated having to leave. The staff is wonderful, the three restaurants served wonderful food, much of it locally sourced and the grounds are beautiful. We stayed in a riverfront cabin with the sound of the nearby waterfall (a small one) coming thru the screened in back of the cabin. While there, we visited a Mayan ruin, rode horses, had a sunset carriage ride, did a jungle hike, had a massage and visited two nearby caves. We had breakfast delivered to our room each day, with the food and coffee always made properly and at the correct temperature. The nightly turndown service, with an extra edible treat left for us as well as 3 lit candles awaiting us after dinner was a pleasant surprise to finish each day.

We celebrated our anniversary with a trip to Belize. I am a beach person so this part of the trip was my husband’s selection however when it was time to go I hated leaving! Customer service above and beyond. Food was outstanding. Knowledge of the area on point. Little extra touches and special treatment was common at this beautiful place.

Numerous positives, very minimal negatives. Let's start with the positives. The property is fantastic, everything worked well in the room, food was good, and staff were absolutely phenomenal. The staff were the best part of this property. There were also tons of activities, some on-site at no cost and others you could book to leave the property for further exploration. The minimal negatives: Wifi was pretty weak in the rooms (but worked well near the common areas) and applying bug spray was a regular necessity. But other than this, it was a really nice property with great staff.

We loved our stay at the Blancaneaux. The location in the nature, along a river is just amazing. The cabanas are beautifully decorated, we highly recommend the bigger ones with a river view. The excursion to Caracol Maya Ruins was great. Our guide was very knowledgeable and taught us a lot about the Maya history and culture. It’s really a must do. And the pack lunch was very premium and good. Finally we loved the restaurants we tried there, the garden experience is truly unique, we loved it. And the food at the Guatemalan restaurant was delicious. The staff was very welcoming and nice. We would love to go back.

We stayed at the Turtle Inn and Blancaneaux Lodge for a week in October, and it was the best vacation we have ever taken. The cabanas and cottages were lovely, the staff was incredible, and the food was outstanding. It's rare that you come home from vacation without a single negative thing to say - our only criticism is that we couldn't stay longer! It was truly an amazing experience.
