Reviews for The Charleston Place

A very nice stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Stayed at Charleston Place for a family event. I was debating between a four or five rating but went with the five because of the great staff. The valet, bell staff and check in staff were great and obviously try very hard to please guests. We liked the club level room, though a bit on the small side. The location in Charleston cannot be beat. The hotel itself is still beautiful. The staff handling our event also get top marks from me, as do the function rooms we used. I waivered on the rating because, while clean, I felt the room could have been cleaner and the club level lounge area is not quite as good as some other hotels. This being said, I still think this is my favorite hotel in Charleston and will go back.

Best Spa & location

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

This is the absolute best spot to stay downtown. Super close to shopping, the spa is amazing, and the staff is incredibly accommodating. Also Sam is a gentleman. Top marks all around. Parking was also super reasonable given the location. Don’t hesitate.

Retirement trip

The rooms are beautiful and very comfortable. Staff was knowledgeable and helpful. It is a very upscale hotel and the prices reflect that. Excellent location for being downtown. Music in the lobby was enjoyable. Multiple entrances make getting around easy.

Customer Service was exceptional

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Charleston Place is an incredible hotel in the center of Charleston’s historic district. Our 5 star experience started at at the front door where the valets parked our car and brought our (considerable) luggage to our room - totally worth the valet charge as parking is at a premium in Charleston. Joe helped us check in and oriented us to their one block square property. Apparently customer service is their specialty. At the Concierge desk, Justus Rockwell first made sure I had distilled water sent to my room for my C-PAP machine, and then gave us a personally customized walking map based on our interests with some special local flavor like The Market, Rainbow Row, Philadelphia Alley (an old time dueling favorite) and Zig Zag Alley (again an old time (wealthy resident) seamstress area famous for the # of Zig Zag sewing machines buzzing away). The next day he assisted us in selecting our Plantation Tour and went so far above and beyond in making our stay one of the best my wife and I have ever experienced. I don’t often use the word, but The Charleston Place was awesome!

They’ve got the 5 Star Staff!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

First class property. Staff are exceptional. At check-in Diane was genuinely thrilled to hear about our girl’s weekend w/a welcome beverage and a first photo! Roosevelt was a seasoned Southern gentleman. These skills can’t be taught! A unique 5 star memory that will bring us back.

I traveled with my family (husband, and two children ages 2 and 4) on a Luxury Link auction package to Charleston Place in August. True good service is making travel effortless for the visitor, and Charleston Place delivered. There was no problem in bringing our children. We arrived about an hour before official check-in, but our room was ready and keys were given. Concierge had pre-printed directions to many of the sites. Finally, our Luxury Link credits for spa and dinner was automatically applied at check-out, so the check-out sheet that I received the morning of departure already had the correct amount that needed to be charged. Effortless! The Club floor included an expanded continental buffet breakfast, as well as drinks and finger foods throughout most of the day. This was very convenient and the breakfast and evening hors d'oeuvres were particularly extensive. What makes Charleston Place stand out from myriad other places to stay in Charleston - many more historic or quaint or intimate - is the amenities offered. The pool with surrounding deck and kiddie pool is a very pleasant spot. The spa treatments were wonderful and very professional. Dinner at Charleston Grill was our favorite meal of the trip. The flavors were complex and fresh - this is not your typical fried and heavy Southern cuisine. I can see Charleston Place appealing to business travelers, couples needing pampering, families with older children, and yes, families with young children. All in all, a service-oriented hotel in a wonderful location with superior amenities and appealing to many different types of travelers.
