Ask for Jimmy at frannie & the fox

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

Best server ever has to be Jimmy at Frannie & the Fox! What an amazing personality and so easy to talk to. Great service from the recommendations to the drink refills. Highly recommend asking for Jimmy when you go visit. Tell him the couple from Texas sent you.

Offsite gone off without a hitch!

This was the cutest hotel. Rooms are super cute, the robes are so soft and comfortable. The welcome drink was a nice surprise as was the daily 3p happy hour in the lobby. My team and I (80+) stayed for 2 to 3 nights and had our company offsite there. The staff took care of us very well. I have to shout out Emma, Rich and Rocky who made sure that our events went off without a hitch. Trevor & Krystal were our bartenders and did a great job, quenching our thirsts! The ladies in catering, made sure that all meals/snacks/beverages were out on time and always filled (Brooke, Autumn, Cassandra, Val, Grace, and Cassandra). Thank you to everyone for helping in making this a successful event!

pretty but not a good smell and poor lighting

While the hotel is well styled and updated from what I believe was the Doubletree some time ago, it just failed in a few ways. The scent that is driven into the room by the air system just makes you feel you are eating flowered candy. The smell at other times is likely the sewer system backing up but it was just really noticeable. The lighting in the rooms is also realllllly low and hard to see inside your suitcase. I will say the beds were comfortable and again, the decor is pretty. It's just a little dirty in some places (headboards and naturally, bathroom tile....I'll never understand why someone chooses a white grout in a frequently used hotel bathroom). The location is nice if you want to be near Market St. For us, we prefer most of our restaurants off upper king so we will head back in that direction for a future stay.

Comfiest beds in town

We had a fabulous time at Emeline during our stay. The staff was warm and welcoming, space was beautiful, food fantastic, coffee delish, location awesome! Very few complaints. Sure there are some things that could use a little attention (flashing light from fire alarm that kept us up at night, a few dingy areas we noticed) but overall a great stay. The bed was so comfortable I’ll be dreaming of it for months!

Pass...

First time in Charleston. Came to visit and visit family. First visited NYC. Just opened my visa bill yesterday from the trip and it made me realize that I spent more on this hotel than on the much better hotel in the Upper West side of Manhattan. First, super kudos to Tania. She was the best. Upgraded our room to a suite. Would never have said anything at the time, but if that is the upgrade, I would hate to see the regular room. The lobby is pretty. The rooms should look like that. Instead, they are dingy, dark and fairly depressing. The bathroom lighting was awful. The light over the toilet was burned out and I asked if they would replace. They did but it strobed. The shower looks like it can fit 10 people but weirdly has one shower head and most importantly very slick tile. Yikes I can't believe people haven't fallen. Tried to eat in the hotel restaurant but was rudely told that there were no reservations. Good to see that the tradition of rude hostesses at restaurants is a nationwide phenomena. Valet people very good and very fast. Location is good. Just not at all worth the price. Actually I felt "ripped off" with this hotel. Actually thought about switching to another hotel once I saw the room but decided not to bother since I knew we wouldn't be there much. Southern hospitality has to be better than this.
