Wow. We just finished our five day stay at the hotel Bennett in Charleston. Hotel was lovely and the entire staff was super friendly. Room was beautiful and bakery was absolutely amazing. Kevin the concierge personalized our trip to fill with an array of experiences that we would otherwise not have known about (restaurants, tours and places to see). A special thank you to the most talented and passionate concierge we have worked with. Hotel Bennett is lucky to have Kevin. Thank you.

Wonderful hotel, but not above and beyond. Let’s call it 4.7. This is a beautiful, clean hotel in a great location. Like many other old grand hotels I’ve visited, our king room was on the small side. But, it was well appointed and comfortable. Because we were visiting family, we chose not to go with their concierge level. We had an early flight in, so we stored the bags and waited for the room to be ready while having coffee in the patisserie, which is wonderful. We had breakfast there every day of our stay. The doormen and bell staff were friendly and attentive. The guys were always there with a smile and a greeting when we went through the doors that they always managed to open for us no matter when we arrived or departed. Like several of the other reviews, we felt the same average experience from everyone else. The competition at this price point is tough, you have to shine in the above and beyond stuff. None of that would have even registered if it wasn’t for the fire alarm and 530 AM evacuation of the hotel on our first night. I certainly appreciate the safety issues and it was actually a bit of a fun bonding experience for us with the other guests. There were two things that bothered us. One, no one from the hotel acknowledged the incident in any way. We only learned of the all clear by asking the firemen. OK, so maybe there was only a skeleton crew at that hour, so no manager was there to speak to us. But, on the following day, nothing. A note, a bottle of wine, a cup of coffee, anything to apologize for the inconvenience of evacuation at that hour would have been nice. Of course it was for our safety and out of their control, but for a high end hotel, it was a missed opportunity to make us feel like appreciated and valued guests. The second thing noted was there were really very few guests in the entire hotel, so why the wait for the room and why no upgrade offered? There was also an extra drink/bill added to our room that wasn’t ours. It was quickly removed when I brought it to their attention. It’s a really nice hotel that could probably use just up their customer service game to a five star level with just some small tweaks. Hospitality is tough business and I appreciate that. I would have liked just a bit more hospitality.

The perfect Charleston getaway is waiting for you right in the heart of downtown. Hotel Bennett is our favorite place to stay and it is not just because it is beautiful. The staff is equally has amazing if not better. We were greeted by Molly on arrival who was very sweet, helpful and surprised us with an early check-in! We headed up to Fiat Lux for a celebratory beverage, Cooper and Brendan were friendly and welcoming. Kevin the concierge was interactive, fun and you absolutely must stop by and chat with him if you can as he will curate the most amazing trip for you. Our only regret was that we didn’t sit down with him sooner. Isabella, Josie and Carissa at Gabrielle’s bar were lovely. Their cocktails are delicious and their company is the cherry on top. Housekeeping was on top of their game and never skipped a beat. The room was impeccable the entire time. Sean from bell/valet gave us great recommendations for our day trip to Sullivan’s and always had a smile when we walked through the door. We closed out our stay with Mia and Maryrose at the front desk who were extremely kind and assisted with all our questions. Mia was bright and bubbly at 6AM and an absolute sweetheart. Maryrose assisted with our checkout and was efficient and knowledgeable. All around a stellar staff and phenomenal experience! If kind, friendly and knowledgeable staff is important to you, this is the place for you.
