World class luxurious hotel oozing southern charm

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

This is a lovely luxurious hotel. Everything is perfect. From the welcome champagne on check in, to the free upgrade to a premium king room , to the turn down service, everything about my stay here was incredible. The staff are attentive, the rooms are posh yet comfortable, and the location ideal. My only suggestion would be that the hotel be a bit more environmentally aware . Lots of single use plastic , did not see any recycling anywhere. Other than that, I really love this hotel. It is one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at

Beautiful Hotel with Great Location

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Overall this is a great hotel. The location is perfect and the hotel is beautiful. Staff at the door and at the front desk are friendly, accommodating, knowledgeable and helpful. The rooms are done very nicely and in particular the marble shower and bathroom are exceptional. Food options are varied and quite good. The only negatives which would not prevent me from returning is the very small gym and lack of interesting equipment (for a hotel this size it should be bigger) and housekeeping. They do a fine job cleaning your room but on one day I left at 7:00 am and at 4:00 pm it still had not been cleaned. They also could never get the turn down time right. I don't doubt that they were told my preferred times by the front desk but they need a better way to communicate it to their staff. But these are minor things for what is otherwise a hotel that is very worthy a visit.

Elegant & Excellent Customer Service

The photos of the room are realistic - the rooms are elegant. The bed was so comfortable. You could not hear noise from other rooms - got a good sound sleep. The room was clean and that was a nice touch with the chocolates on the pillows each night. The service at the hotel was amazing - first rate - five stars! Would highly recommend.

Outstanding hotel with best concierge

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Hotel is amazing -- absolutely gorgeous. ALL staff was very friendly and helpful. Concierge Kevin McQuade set us up with two days of fabulous touring activities, along with reservations for lunches and dinners at perfect restaurants. We had never been to Charleston, and he made it so we got a full flavor for your beautiful city -- walking tour with Tommy, boat ride with Gresh, bicycle ride plan on Kiawah, and lunch at Ocean Course.

The property is beautiful and rooms well appointed. However, HB remains borderline arrogant. This weekend, we spent over $2,600 for one night on a multi-bedroom suite for a family celebration. Kings Club access wasn’t included (standard at many/most luxury properties for this level of spend/room category) - I asked if it could be included, to which we were flatly denied. That’s all well and good, but makes it easy for me to celebrate elsewhere next year. HB is not the only option in Charleston, or regionally.
