Warm hospitality is a hallmark of the American South, and no place cultivates it as finely as The Market Pavilion Hotel. At the epicenter of downtown Charleston, South Carolina, just minutes from the waterfront and the city's grand old manors, this member of The Leading Small Hotels of the World brings elegance and finesse to its down home welcome. Elevating the atmosphere further is a tantalizing aesthetic, which pairs original artwork and mahogany furnishings with gorgeous views of the historic City Market and East Bay Street.

Although an elegant lobby, the hotel rooms are sadly very rundown. The room furnishings are beaten up, the upholstery is frayed and worn, the mattress is thin and old, despite the mattress topper put in place to cover up the fact that the mattress is thin and old. The bathrooms are trimmed out in 1980s brass, which is totally pitted and blackened, and the bathroom wallpaper is stained and peeling. An old school and impressive display of morning coffee and pastries are on each floor, which would be lovely except for the fact that on each of the 3 days I was there, the coffee was room temperature cold - on 2 of the 3 days, I was there and watched the attendant pour the coffee from a carafe into the large silver urn. It was old and cold when it was poured. The first night, there was so much street noise until after midnight that sleep was not an option. It was quieter the next 2 nights, fortunately. The rooftop bar and pool is nice and well staffed. Better to come for a drink than stay at the hotel.

I spent two luxurious nights at the Market Pavilion hotel and had a stay to remember. The hotel is beautifully designed, which makes every minute there memorable. The rooms are spacious and magnificent as well. The staff at the Market Pavilion are all extremely accommodating and welcoming. I also enjoyed a drink at the rooftop bar which had a beautiful view of the Charleston sunset. I loved every minute of it here!

This hotel is grand, luxurious and comfy. We celebrated and enjoyed all the hotel features - the comfy room, the rooftop pool and eatery, Grill 225 and the fresh cookies and fruit! Theresan at the front desk was so nice and helpful. Went beyond what was expected. Valet Danny was efficient and fun. Ask him about his parents!

Perfect location in the French Quarter, next to the market and restaurants. Walking distance to the battery and all of the historic districts charm. The hotel itself is elegant and cozy. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Valet services made parking convenient. Highly recommend!

My fiance and I stayed here for three nights. The staff are very friendly. The rooftop pool and bar were very nice. Having fresh coffee on each floor every morning was a nice touch. The room was very clean and the bathroom was very large. The towels were the best that I have felt in a hotel. Turn down service at night was great. We ate in Grill 225 in the hotel and had an amazing dinner. The only negative was there was not a mini refrigerator in the room.
