How it holds the Relais & Chateaux designation is a mystery - this place is a disgrace to the brand. From the Peninsula Grill to the dirty furniture and bedding this hotel does not represent the designation of Relais & Chateaux. Having stayed in several hotels with the same designation it falls way short - it needs a complete remake. The Peninsula Grill was by far the worst food we had in our four day stay.

Great hotel and have been here before. It had been a few years so was good to go back and stay there again. The staff there goes above and beyond as if this is a true 5 star hotel. From the front desk to employees like Kean, Frank and Mike. Kean had no clue it was our anniversary and while just casually talking to him went out of his way to make us feel special and even bought us a round of drinks on him. Frank came to the save the day when we couldn't get late night ice cream and delivered in the clutch. Mike was great upon checking in and just in all very pleasant stay. I have stayed at several of the nicer hotels over the years in Charleston, but will keep coming back here as the staff makes sure you have the best possible stay. Also have a great courtyard and the bar inside the attached restaurant is very nice as well. Hotel was well worth the money.

Painters Inn is a wonderful hotel. It is beautifully restored, elegant and comfortable. Everyone we encountered there was great, friendly professional and interested in making sure we had a good Charleston experience. We had a exceptional room on the "penthouse" floor (4) with it's own private terrace overlooking the market and a fireplace. Charmingly elegant without being ostentatious.

such a beautiful old hotel. The staff was excellent and did everything to make our stay exceptional. My room had a 4 poster bed that was very comfortable. The hotel was located downtown and very close to many good restaurants and things to do. The hardest part of our stay was deciding where to eat our meals. So many choices. The hotel was across the street from the market which had a lot of nice things to buy.

Love the Planters Inn. Have stayed before and plan to return. It is lovely, comfortable, quiet - and the staff is the best; so helpful with anything you ask and so friendly. The food at the Peninsula Grille is perfection and you can’t miss out on the famous coconut cake.

Our visit to the Planters Inn last week was superb, as always. Thanks, Steve Boyd, for taking such good care of us when we arrived so early in the morning. Thanks, too, to everyone at the inn for making us feel at home. We're already looking forward to our next visit!
