Four Seasons Resort Nevis

We stayed at in October 2024 and it is truly unique for several reasons: 1. Jaw dropping beauty everywhere you look, the mountain on the east side, the beach and pools on the west side. 2. The island embraces travelers and the staff is special. 3. The amenities are all setup to amaze. The spa is set aside with its own cool and warm pools, each with an intimate setting. Tennis on beautiful courts, golf on a beautiful course. 350 acres on a premier beach. Even the dock is spec, facing west for sunsets, the resort even has a Bar open to serve drinks while watching the sunset. 4. The dining is diverse and well executed. 5. You can truly relax and have everything you need on property.

The staff at Four Seasons Nevis were truly exceptional, providing outstanding service throughout our stay. The food was fantastic, with a variety of delicious options that exceeded our expectations. Our room was spacious and beautifully appointed, making it the perfect retreat. Highly recommend this hotel for a memorable getaway!

Approaching St. Kitt’s by air in daylight, you get a whiff of the island life billowing up from Antigua, Anguilla, Barbuda, and Montserrat, all surrounding the new center of my universe: Nevis. The Leeward Islands separate the Atlantic from the Caribbean, and it’s hard to imagine a more tranquil demarcation point than this informal confederation of dormant volcanoes. Landing at St. Kitt’s Basterre Airport (SKB) will lift the weight off your shoulders and the furrow in your brow. The folks at the Four Seasons resort on Nevis appreciate this vibe and do their best to preserve it, meeting your plane the moment you step out of the cellblock terminal into a near equatorial sunshine. Driving an extended van carrying five of us (my family and another couple) along the southern spine of St. Kitt’s was a gentle soul who doubled as a tour guide and PSA, stopping to let us take pictures of Mt. Nevis in the distance, pointing out Robert Redford’s Sundance Ridge development, and explaining why you cannot wear camouflage on the islands unless you are in their military, and dropping the F-bomb will get you fined or jailed (for a repeat offense). At the end of the road, he carried our bags to the private water taxi ready to ferry us the 12-15 minutes from pier to pier, the latter extending from the Four Seasons’ private beach. Of course, it being Four Seasons, there wasn’t just a greeting party waiting to help us out of the boat. There was also an elaborate bar and seating area at the western tip of the dock, a perfect place to gather at sunset and enjoy champagne while watching the sun dip below the horizon. We were led down the boards to the center of the resort, which includes a stunning infinity pool, outdoor bar and restaurant, and inside, a second restaurant serving breakfast daily, plus a rum bar for the adventurous of spirit. Some of the other restaurants were closed in August, one of the hazards of low season travel (along with hurricanes), the upside being you can choose any table at any time in any restaurant and not worry about availability. Escorted to our Poinciana Suite by our personal concierge and factotum (“Guest Experience Manager”), Kisean Warner, we walked up one flight to two rooms with an ocean view. Kisean had reached out to me prior to arrival to get a sense of what we were looking to do for five days. I explained that my son needed a couple of hours a day in the gym and on the basketball court to keep his training level up. I wanted to play some tennis, but otherwise, we were pretty flexible. Entering our living room, we found a bottle of rose prosecco chilling on a dining table with a bowl of fruit and a personal note from the resort manager, Gaman Guadagni. Well done, sir. My son turned to his left to see a card addressed to him, next to a gleaming black Nike basketball, urging him to enjoy his time on a court shaded by palm trees and surrounded by lush and colorful bushes and flowers. He was immediately in awe. (It didn’t stop there, as he convinced Kisean to let him drive the golf cart when we took our private crown monkey tour of the spectacular golf course on the mountainside climbing Mt. Nevis.) For the next five days, we got up early for the over-the-top breakfast buffet at Esquilina, where food and beverage manager Laura Jacobsen oversees a surfeit of wonderful Nevisian ladies, who minister to your needs patiently, letting you linger at your table indefinitely to sample the diverse fare (sorry, I’m not downing any ginger shots, I don’t care how healthy they are). It is surely the most reasonably priced and best value meal on the resort, especially when your 16-year-old returns to the line for his sixth course. Then it was off to the temporary gym (the main gymnasium was gutted by fire and is under reconstruction, presumably to be ready for the high season). After an airconditioned workout, we headed to the courts before the sun got too high in the sky. I took lessons with Eric Thorel, a world-class teaching professional, part of the Peter Burwash International crew who supervise tennis programs for Four Seasons properties around the globe. Eric is a sensitive, renaissance man, who spends part of every week at the resort teaching local children how to improve as players (I watched one serious practice where at least three teenagers appeared to be ready to step up to accredited tournament play). My son got up his 500 shots per day, shirtless, soaking up sun and surroundings in equal measure. He also reported sublime results from his combination of massage and extended stay in the cold plunge pool at the wonderful spa. Three pools and a beach, sheltered by a breakwater to make for calm snorkeling shallows, provided plenty of chances to cool down and relax. Two hours of complimentary mask and snorkel are available to all guests. Whatever you need by the pool, Chanel will get it for you and smile infectiously as she does so. If you want to get further out onto the water, Kisean can arrange it. We booked a two-hour sunset sail on the 47’ catamaran Caona, courtesy of Leeward Island Tours, once again arranged by Kisean on short notice. Just a final note to address those occasional critiques that pop up in the minority but should not be overlooked. The buildings are clean, the rooms are well appointed, and the grounds are gorgeous. But the resort is on an island within the tropical zone, where the sun beats down incessantly, breaking down hardscapes and roofs with regularity. Tiles, walkways and buildings will look faded or fading within a couple of years of construction. This resort had a substantial makeover five years ago. Rooms are cool and comfortable, bathrooms are spacious and well appointed, and free cans of still water are replenished daily. If you go to Nevis, stay hydrated. Same issue with the food. Nevis is a relatively small island with limited local food sources. Most of the food at the Four Seasons has to be flown in daily from considerable distance. This will have a dramatic impact on cost. I recommend a frozen pina colada to take your mind off the check. The issue is a global phenomenon. People complained about $25 hamburgers on Maui, perhaps not realizing that beef as being hauled from Los Angeles every morning. What’s important when evaluating where to spend your family vacation is how personable your resort staff will be to meet your needs and to coddle your children like their own. Add a breathtaking setting to a spotless facility, and I think you have your answer. Nevis is the place to be.

This place is an absolute gem. The product is a 10/10 but the staff/service speaks for itself. A few highlights — Debbie (Pool & Beach) absolute legend. She always made sure our stay was going well and used our names naturally. Killion (Director of Recreation) is an asset to the brand. His team had nothing but positive things to stay about him and he was so friendly. A true ambassador to the Four Seasons. Maureen (Server F&B) super friendly and very sweet. We will for sure be back and tell everyone back home how amazing this property is!

This property is located in an amazing, beautiful secluded area of Nevis. The staff are what makes this property an out of this world experience. They are so warm and inviting. You feel like a person, not a "customer" when interacting with them. They are very helpful and will go through great lengths to ensure your stay is everything you want it to be. They are also really good about not being intrusive when you prefer not to be interrupted or disturbed. I'd highly recommend staying here. From the Cabanas on the beach to the world class cuisine to the amazing golf and tennis options. You couldn't ask for a better getaway.
