Hotel turned us away even though we had a reservation

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Had the worst experience. We were supposed to spend two nights here earlier this week- Monday and Tuesday. We were coming over from Western NC. Because of Hurricane Helene, we stayed to help the community. We called the hotel and let them know we would only be coming for the second night because we were flyjng out the next morning. We explained the situation and said we would even still pay the two nights if needed. They said no problem and that they had noted our reservation. When we got to the hotel, they turned us away and said they did not have any notes in the system and they gave our room away to someone else in at the hotel was full. The gentleman at the front desk was rude and was not helpful. I asked to speak to a manager and he said he was the manager. I will never attempt to stay here again and I will discourage any friend. As a side note, the bellman/valet was incredibly kind.

Best of the best

I had been driving for 10 or 11 hours, lots of traffic and accidents and torrential rain… nightmare in every way. My husband (not in the car with me) looked online and found me this hotel because I needed to stop for the night. Every staff member I encountered was amazing and lovely. Every detail of the room and experience was perfect. The bed was incredibly comfortable and I never really notice but the linens were silky and beautiful, and the robe had a Frette label so maybe that explains it. I’m a humble gal and like to save money and I am happy at a clean simple hotel but THIS, this place literally has changed me. I landed here by accident and now I will compare everywhere else to this hotel. Thank you, thank you, to everyone who works there and helps to create this amazing place!!!

Fun girls trip!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

We had a great girls trip to see a concert and get some spa time together! The accommodations were clean and comfortable and the food at gallery restaurant was good. One of the highlights was Jeffrey Barbour, who made us feel right at home with all of his help!

I looked around in awe, tears in my eyes, at my luxurious room. This birthday would be memorable!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

Have you ever had your highest expectations exceeded? How did it feel? I did at the Ballantyne Hotel and will never forget the incredible joy of my experience! I hadn't been on vacation for almost 18 months, felt burnt out, and my birthday was in three weeks. I decided to do an overnight staycation at the nearby Ballantyne because I had been there for events like the Christmas Tea, eaten meals at the Gallery Restaurant numerous times with friends and family, and got to know some of the staff. From the moment the valet Payton opened my car door and said, "Welcome to the Ballantyne Hotel, Patty," I felt like a VIP celebrity. The incredibly friendly and attentive guest services staff—including Blake, Nolan, Hadleigh, and Kamryn—met needs I didn't even realize I had, and for the next 24 hours, all my stress was left at the front entrance. They assured me, "Patty, you deserve the best at the Ballantyne Hotel. Happy Birthday!" I was nearly speechless except for the frequent, "I can't believe this! Thank you!" coming from the huge smile on my face as if I had won a grand prize vacation! I looked around in awe, with tears in my eyes, at my upgraded luxurious Executive Suite. I stood out on the balcony and took in the stunning view from the top floor of the beautiful grounds and the city of Charlotte in the distance. There was a knock on the door and a hotel server brought in a large sparkling bottle of water and a wrapped box of macaroons. The note said, "Welcome to the Ballantyne! Thank you for staying with us to celebrate your birthday. We wish you a pleasant stay and a wonderful celebration. Warm regards, Christophe Le Chatton, General Manager." Wow, what exceptional service in less than an hour! I was taking in every moment. After enjoying a few cookies, I put on my luxurious pool robe and walked downstairs for a two-hour swim in the refreshing outdoor pool and a light dinner. When I came back, I found a few yummy chocolates and bottles of water with another note. "On behalf of myself and the Housekeeping Department, we are delighted to have you stay with us. We wish you a very Happy Birthday and hope you relax and enjoy your time off. Let me know if you need anything! Nolan Williams." I sat on my elegant bed and stared out the window in disbelief that this was happening to me. I savored the chocolate and, for the next half hour, relaxed on the balcony and enjoyed a delicious cappuccino from the complimentary in-room coffee bar and the evening lights. I slept soundly that night like I hadn't in months. My son came over and treated me to breakfast the next morning. We sat on the Gallery Restaurant's outdoor balcony in the peaceful atmosphere. He was amazed at my room and impressed that the hotel was providing this special luxury experience. I spent another two hours at the outdoor pool, eating a delicious chicken wrap while reading a book and relaxing on a comfortable lounge chair. I met a friendly couple from Charlotte on their honeymoon, also doing a staycation getaway, and we exchanged phone numbers to keep in touch. As I slowly and reluctantly checked out of my extravagant room with all its luxuries late that afternoon, I thanked God for the blessing. I praised Blake and the staff for their exceptional service and thoughtfulness. I assured them, "This will be an annual celebration for me," and they smiled and cheered! I can't guarantee your stay will be as unique as mine, but I can promise the Ballantyne Hotel staff will do their best to ensure it meets or exceeds your expectations. Thank you for making my stay memorable!
