Situated in Charlotte, North Carolina, the Dunhill Hotel has offered a legacy of distinctive style and luxury since its opening in 1929. Reminiscent of the celebrated hotels of the twenties and thirties, the city's only Historic Hotels of America affiliate seduces with a rich sense of refinement and flair. Guest rooms are done in 18th century European furnishings and original works of art, while dining at The Monticello is an exquisite, sophisticated affair.

We live in the outskirts of CLT so just wanted a night out from home. The hotel staff were friendly, our check in was efficient, and pleasant and it was only the guy’s third day. A manager was there with him and he was also happy and friendly. The hotel was clean and our breakfast at the Asbury was good. The downside for me is with it being a historic hotel, there were no sound barriers. I had a very hard time sleeping from all of the noise from the cars in Uptown. If you’re able to sleep thru just about anything you’ll be fine, otherwise bring earplugs. Our server at the Asbury, I wanna say her name was Nikki but I’m not sure, was fun (a beautiful black woman) . If she tells you a funny story about a pair of scissors she has then you’ll know it’s her.

I recently treated myself to a staycation at the Dunhill. Living in CLT for the last 30 years, I had never been to the Dunhill. The hotel is unique by fact of its history. It has a subtle flair of a British Inn because of its history. While some of the room furnishings showed a bit of their age, the bed and linens were very comfortable and bathroom space was very nice. The iconic CLT crown pillow was a nice touch and a nod to the Queen City which I ended up purchasing one when I checked out. I ate breakfast at the Asbury each morning. Wait staff along with all that I met were very nice. While for some ppl who are more accustomed to a modern hotel and all that goes with it, this in ways will give you more of an old school quaint feel. The location is awesome as I took in the Mint Museum had dinners close by and did a roof top cocktail at another hotel. So for me it was the best of all worlds.

From checking in at the front desk to checking out, Natalie and "Dos" along with Hannah at the bar and Jordan the General Manager, made our stay the BEST! The hotel is a favorite of ours for dinner at the Asbury before an event or stopping at the bar for drinks with friends. This stay was a "Murder Mystery" which included dinner, solving the mystery, an overnight in a beautiful corner room, and bountiful breakfast the next morning. It truly was special from check in to check out! We already decided we are coming back to for a "staycation" for another weekend soon. Thank you Dunhill Hotel staff. You all get and A+ from us.

The Dunhill Hotel is a gem in Charlotte, and I highly recommend it for anyone seeking a gracious, boutique experience with historic charm. As the only historic boutique hotel in the city, it offers a unique atmosphere that sets it apart. During our November visit, the lobby was beautifully decorated for Christmas, creating a warm and welcoming ambiance. The bar area was also lovely—a perfect spot to unwind. My Premium Queen room was spacious and comfortable, with a sofa, great views, and luxurious touches like two plush robes, top-quality linens, and a heavenly four-poster bed. The heat worked wonderfully, and I always had hot water, making for a cozy stay during chilly weather. The staff were consistently helpful and kind, which added to the overall positive experience. That said, I have a few recommendations to elevate the experience further: 1. Bathroom Updates: The bathroom lacked hooks or racks for robes and wet towels, making it inconvenient. The shower setup was spacious but awkward—controls at the showerhead end meant getting soaked before adjusting the temperature, and the wall-mounted toiletries were inconveniently placed. A more spa-like lighting setup and higher-quality, locally sourced toiletries would also enhance the space. 2. Toilet Functionality: On the 10th floor, the toilet flushed weakly and slowly, which was a concern. It may be an issue with the older plumbing but should be addressed. 3. Room Size Consistency: I booked two Premium Queen rooms, but my friend’s room was much smaller, lacked a sofa, and was directly above construction noise. While the staff graciously offered to move her, they indicated that no quieter options were available. (Efforts should be made to avoid placing guests in rooms affected by construction.) I was also confused as to what made her much smaller room a Premium Queen. 4. Breakfast at The Savoy downstairs: While the setting was nice, the omelet I ordered came alone—no toast or accompaniments. It was surprisingly small and looked very lonely on the big plate. (I have never ordered an omelet anywhere that did not come with at least toast and potatoes or some other side.) My friend ordered the Classic Breakfast, which came with toast, sausage and grits or smoked gouda cake. It was a buck cheaper so what's the story? Despite these issues, The Dunhill remains an excellent choice for its charm, history, and attentive staff. With a few refinements, it could be a truly flawless experience. I’d happily return and recommend it to others.

Staff was helpful and friendly. It is located in walking distance to a number of the downtown restaurants and entertainment venues. The bed was comfortable. I found the room small and cold (temp). Had to run thermostat fairly high to get it comfortable. Also had issues with their internet and at times lost services. It was a little noisy as well in part due to construction outside. Older
