Reviews for Hyatt Regency Chicago

Not Horrible, but Generally Disappointing

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Not horrible, but pretty disappointing. I came in at around 11pm. There was no one working the check in counter and I had to wait 4-5 minutes before someone showed up. I booked a King bed high floor room, but they were all booked out and I was given the option of a low floor king or a high floor 2 queen beds, no apology or anything. The room was clean, however the AC/heater fan was obnoxiously loud. Shower water pressure was super low, it felt like it was just barely spitting out anything. Pillows are too soft, and one smelled funky. The comforter was somewhat thin and sheets felt stiff and rough. Overall the hotel looks like it has been recently renovated, but feels dated already. I go to Chicago 4-5 times a year, and will not stay at this hotel again. Not that it was a horrible experience, but just kind of overall disappointing. There are much better options at the same or lower cost.

Favorite Chicago Hotel

This hotel is now our go to hotel for visiting Chicago as a family of 5. The location is perfect and my family loves the breakfast buffet and the club lounge. The staff is friendly and attentive. There was an issue with the TVs in the room on arrival night and it was fixed within 30 minutes of calling the front desk to report it.

Hyatt Regency Chicago Good But Not Exceptional

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Most things during our stay were more or less acceptable for a Hyatt Regency -- the room, general check-in, the hotel itself. The only real standout was the BREAKFAST, being wonderfully varied and with extraordinary service. Considering the cost of the room, the appointments and even basic construction were noticeably "corner-cut" -- meaning cheaper, less luxurious materials and appointments used -- no carpet in most of the room, just a bare floo, except between the 2 queen beds; and simpler, less impressive, more "cookie-cutter" materials use throughout the room. Had a distinctly "bare-bones" look to it. AND, at reception, you'd think, of all people, the check-in person would be genuinely warm and welcoming, esp. to a Hyatt member (even to a "mere" DIscoverist like me). The man who checked us (me and my 2 daughters) in was less so -- outwardly answering questions, taking payment, etc., but with a decidedly curt attitude and manner, seeming to want to conclude the check-in ASAP, and all tinged with a faint but unmistakable urgency and what appeared to me to be look of disdain. Probably we didn't appear to be "high-roller" enough? I don't know, but it's funny how you can detect those kinds of responses in people. For a hotel like the Hyatt Regency Chicago, I think they could -- and should -- do better with their reception personnel.

Nick Nolan thank you for ignoring me

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

Nick Nolan thank you for ignoring me After 2 booked rooms, my experience was terrible. -Starting off with checkin delays, then seeing a roach in the hallway -Then another in my room -No water pressure in the shower -Followed by the nosiest and poorly working ac unit. The only benefit was the nice staff, on top of those super loud hallways. I wasted $3000 and should have gone elsewhere, I need this resolved conf # 45731063 and 150147RA001769

Top Choice for Hotel Stay in Chicago

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

The rooms were beautifully remodeled, well laid out and very clean. The staff was very friendly and made the check in process very easy for a large group of 15 business colleagues during check in. Highly recommend next time you visit Chicago. Hotel is close to shopping, food, and Millennial Park.
