5 Star missed the mark

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 15 hours ago

This was my second stay at the Langham. I treated myself for my birthday to the spa and overnight at the hotel. First the positive, the valet is very attentive and professional, great introduction to the hotel. The spa was wonderful clean, relaxing and beautiful. One of the best spas I’ve ever been to and I love to spa. The locker room was beautiful, the spa lounge, snacks, amenities all top notch as well the service. I can’t return to the spa! Now the hotel, I requested early check in so I can relax in my room after wrapping up my spa around noon, they were not able to accommodate even I requested well in advance and inquired again during my spa service but never confirmed yes or no it was possible. So I went to have lunch at Travelle, beautiful restaurant and attentive service. After lunch went to check in around 3:00..room was not ready! How can your room not be ready at check in time at a 5 star hotel?!? I’ve stayed in most of the 5 star hotel in Chicago this has never happened! Not to mentioned I had been there since 9:00 am at the spa and lunch, was very ready to relax ahead of my dinner reservations! The front desk specialist was very friendly and empathetic and offered me club access to relax and get freshened up for my dinner reservations. While this was a nice gesture my room was still not ready until 4pm. While this a beautiful hotel I feel like they continue miss the 5 star experience. y

Where Luxury Feels Like Home

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

What struck me most was how the hotel managed to create these intimate spaces within such a grand setting. The staff had this wonderful way of remembering small details about each guest, making every interaction feel personal. The morning coffee service in the lobby became something I looked forward to daily, watching the sunrise paint the room in golden hues while planning the day ahead.

Great Stay at The Langham Chicago

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

My husband and I stayed at The Langham Chicago for our wedding anniversary, and it exceeded our expectations. From the time we arrived and were greeted by Sto who provided parking tips and places to go, to the time we departed and were accompanied by Patrick Taylor who assisted with our luggage and waited with me until my husband brought our car around, every employee at The Langham Chicago went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. This is the only place we will be staying any time we return to Chicago. Inside the hotel we were welcomed by the lovely Tatyana (my apologies if I spelled her name incorrectly), she checked us in and gave us the layout of the hotel and also sent us a complimentary bottle of champagne for our anniversary. There is a restaurant and bar that is not only great for hotel guests, but pretty popular with locals too. They also have a spa and 24 hour fitness center. The bar tender was phenomenal. He recommended a drink called Spirit of the Dragon made with tequila and tajìn foam. I highly recommend for my margarita lovers. Outside the hotel, everything was very walkable. The views of the river walk are amazing. We were able to walk to Navy Pier, Museum of Ice Cream, Giordano’s, Starbucks Reserve, TAO, and the Bean. We Will definitely be back!

New Go To Hotel in Chicago

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

Hard to find a fault here at all. Excellent room, well looked after, with really comfortable bed and fine bathroom. Great views of the river. The hotel lobby and bar are really attractive and the seating area where tea gets served acts as a living room when it is empty, which is most of the day. Really good gym and pool. The service is outstanding and personable. Only real complaints are room service and restaurant. The first often fails to include items when delivered, though always quickly goes and retrieves with a good attitude. The food in the restaurant is really good, just weird the hotel defaults to the lounge for dinner. Makes some sense given number of places to eat in the area. And the dinners in the bar area are great, to be sure. Would just be nice to have a quieter spot. Small quibbles. Room service seems an issue in every hotel post-Covid, and this one is better than most. Would stay here over the Waldorf anytime, maybe even the Four Seasons. Just has a more comfortable feel and better service.
