As expected, the hotel surpasses expectations, the attentive staff, the luxurious accommodation, and fine food all add to a memorable stay. The spa is a destination in itself, where you lose yourself in the many thermal cabins, pools, and treatments. The grounds are immaculate. Can't wait to return.

We arrived mid afternoon and the sun was shining so we enjoyed a glass of wine in the beautiful outdoor seating area, staff were so attentive. I had a spa treatment booked I can honestly say it was the most relaxing facial I’ve had along with the beautiful spa to relax in. Our room was stunning with views over the beautiful grounds and some lovely complimentary biscuits to enjoy. I particularly like the turn down service, it’s these little touches that make Lucknam stand out! We had dinner in the walled garden restaurant, the food was outstanding with service to match just a very relaxed atmosphere with quality food cooked to perfection. Breakfast was so tasty with a beautiful cold buffet and freshly cooked breakfast with great ingredients- perfect poached eggs!! I’ve had a particularly difficult year health wise this was just what we needed, came away feeling very very relaxed.

The room I stayed in (Manor Room) was very nice, well appointed and had a lovely view. A bit dated and the tea and coffee was the same as you'd get any standard of hotel. Some lovely, tasty freshly baked buscuits on arrival, but nothing more. The grounds and house are beautiful. The staff are very attentive and take great care of you. Unfortunately the food is extremely dissapointing. The Walled Garden is perfectly nice but nothing warranting the price. Breakfast was fine, again, nothing better than any highstreet cafe and certainly not as good as other hotels or restaurants. Hywell Jones was bitterly underwhelming. A small, very dowdy dining room serving bland, uninspiring and unpleasent food. For a supposed 20 consecutivd years of Michalin star rating, it was awful. If you want great food, go to The Newt. If you stay here, eat out in Bath. Now, the one truly fantastic thing about this place is the riding. Absolutely brilliant staff at the equestrian centre. My rides around the estate were so much fun and they truly catered to me being a regular rider, with faster work and exceptional horses (well mannered, very capable). Time of my life galloping over the fields with that stunning backdrop. The spa is nice, pool is very very cold but all very lovely. Massage was very average. Overall, I had a lovely two night stay but this was largely driven by the quality of the equestrian team.

We spent 1 night for my birthday. Given the cost of our stay and our expectations based on previous Relais and Châteaux and Michelin Star stays/restaurants we left disappointed. We stayed in a Manor Room which had a lovely view over parkland, whilst comfortable we thought it was small and bland and it did not have the antique feel that the hotel's website promises. As we arrived early, we had lunch in the Walled Garden Restaurant which was good and has a nice airy feel, staff were friendly. Spa was a nice experience and again friendly staff. We had booked dinner in the Hywel Jones restaurant and chose the tasting menu. At £175 per head (plus service) our expectations were high. Pre-dinner drinks were pleasant, we chose to sit in the Library as the Drawing Room lights were so bright to be unpleasant. The Dining Room is impressive, but rather bland in decor, beige seems to have been the desired look and again it was extremely bright. We were served our amuse bouche before we had been asked if we wanted to order a drink. It seems there was an accompanying wine flight, but we were not told about this. The food was good, but not exceptional. The staff whilst friendly and keen to please seemed to lack a professionalism one would expect from a restaurant and hotel of this sort. My partner had told them it was my birthday and asked if there could be a small treat at end of our meal with a candle. A largish cake arrived without a candle and little fuss, this was much too large and we were offered to have it boxed, which we declined as we were travelling by train. Upon checkout we were charged £20 for said birthday treat, which is a first. Breakfast was good. Overall, we felt for the cost, the experience was poor value and hence the rating. Generally, everything acceptable, but not exceptional, we will not return.

Just back from a lovely 3 day stay at Lucknam Park Hotel and Spa - luxurious as you would expect but of special note was the warmth, help and professionalism of the staff notably Anna Young on reception who worked so hard, efficiently and understandingly trying to find two rooms which fulfilled our special needs.
