Hyatt Regency Cologne

The room was very comfortable and clean and exceeded expectations. The staff was friendly and accommodating. There was a workout room that I planned to use, but the bed was so comfortable that I overslept! We don’t normally stay at high-end hotels and enjoyed the pampering.

Amazing location, we stayed for NYE. I had an 11 and 12 year old with me and they enjoyed the hotel just as much as me. The breakfast buffet was vast and always well stocked. The hotel hosts lots of football teams and my brothers loved looking at all of the football memorabilia in the Spa. The room was spacious and modern. Everything was clean and the daily housekeeping was great too. The hotel on a whole was also very clean and modern. It's a short walk to the nearest train station or a slightly further one to the central station, making it a good location for exploring. I had no significant issues or concerns my entire stay and would highly recommend this hotel.

The Hyatt Regency Cologne was chosen for the single purpose of seeing the fireworks over the Cologne cathedral. This worked well. We are spoilt by Chinese hotels that have larger rooms with modern equipment for a quarter of the price. If you are used to that standard, Hyatt in Cologne seems to be 20 years in the past. Staff is ok. Breakfast is outstanding.

Since Hyatt is an international hotel, it would be better to provide more international food between Europe and Asia. At least there is soup, for example chicken soup. Especially in cold weather. However, the food available also has a taste. For other facilities: Parking is rather limited, and not free. Overall is as expected.

While my stay at Hyatt Regency Cologne was pleasant overall, there were several issues with the room facilities and design that detracted from the experience. Outdated Room Facilities: The facilities and settings in the room felt outdated. The air conditioning system only provided heating during the winter, which made the room uncomfortably warm. Without a window that could be opened for ventilation, this limitation significantly impacted my overall comfort. Staff Responsiveness and Service: I would like to compliment the staff for their professionalism, friendliness, and willingness to help throughout my check-in and my whole stay, especially Mr. Kan, the Front Office Manager who offered substancial help, and it is always lovely to be able to communicate in my mother tougue in a foreign country. Furthermore, when we requested a fan to address the warmth in the room, it was promptly supplied, and they were always attentive to our needs. Their exceptional service helped alleviate some of the discomfort caused by the outdated facilities, and I truly appreciated their dedication and hospitality. Electrical Convenience: The room lacked modern multi-socket panels, making it difficult to charge multiple electronic devices simultaneously. Additionally, the absence of USB charging ports was inconvenient, especially as Type-C charging capability is becoming increasingly essential for modern travelers. Addressing this issue would significantly improve guest convenience and satisfaction. Bathroom Design: The faucet design in both the toilet and bathroom was outdated, featuring separate heads for hot and cold water. This dual-head setup is not user-friendly, and I recommend upgrading to a more modern, single-handle design for convenience. Additionally, the absence of a door for the shower meant water easily splashed onto the bathroom floor, creating unnecessary mess and inconvenience. I understand the hotel is planning renovations, and I hope these issues will be addressed during the updates. Room Cleanliness and Flooring: The room was quite dusty, which was disappointing. With the upcoming renovations, I suggest replacing the current flooring with wooden panels, as this would reduce the likelihood of dust accumulation and improve overall cleanliness. While the exceptional service from the staff was a highlight of my stay, the outdated facilities, lack of modern conveniences, and design features in the room fell short of the high standards expected from the Hyatt Regency brand. I hope the planned renovations will address these issues and bring the property up to a more modern, comfortable, and functional standard.
