Dating back to 1682, the Steenberg Hotel is an exquisite historic wine farm set in the foothills of South Africa's magnificent Constantia Valley. Although just 20 minutes from the center of Cape Town, this serene set of buildings - declared an official National Monument - is its own seductive world, surrounded by vineyards and an 18-hole championship golf course. The buildings have been lovingly restored and decorated traditionally with antiques in elegant 17th-century style. In your delightful guest room or suite, you will discover a wealth of treats, which may include a romantic patio with views of the vines and fairways.

A wonderful hotel with newly refurbished food, wonderful staff throughout and a great breakfast. Lovely little pool area for hotel guests only. The bistro served excellent food. The spa was knockout - big shout out to Sharlene for the most amazing massage and facial. Would not hesitate to recommend this place.

This is our third visit to Steenberg Hotel - in our opinion it is the best hotel in the world that we have stayed at - the rooms are spacious and beautifully appointed and the setting is absolutely stunning. The staff are all so friendly, welcoming and professional. We will definitely be back when next in Cape Town.

This was our second visit to The Steenberg. The first time was ten years ago, we vowed to return & we finally did! The hotel had a recent refurb, it looks beautiful. Our room was extremely comfortable. We dined in Tryn on our first evening, everything was delicious. Staff were very friendly, booking transfers, collecting us from a local shopping centre and explaining about the aircon etc in our room. I must give special thanks to Helenica, the Duty manager, she made us laugh so much when she showed us the door to the garden. If you read this Helenica, I am still smiling when I think how you tricked us! It was National Heritage Day during our stay. We enjoyed chatting to the beautiful staff in their traditional costumes. Many thanks to all who looked after us. I hope it's not another ten years before we return.

This was our 7th or 8th visit, which indicates what an exceptional property it is. The staff are amazing and absolutely lovely; they anticipate your needs and actually learn your preferences, which we’ve never experienced at any other hotel. It’s like a homecoming each time we visit. The rooms are very large, beds are oversized and the pillows/linens perfect. The on-site restaurants are wonderful. You can run around in the grounds and through the vineyards. And Constantia is a great choice as well, with vineyards and restaurants surrounding and only 20 min to downtown. We really love everything about the hotel.

After one night in Cape Town, we left the city hotel and came here due to feeling very unsafe. Steenberg was a welcome reprieve from the chaos in Cape Town. I love chaos, I love New York City, but Cape Town was frightening. Visit city during the day. and possibly eat dinner there, but then get out of town and go stay somewhere like Steenberg. The room, the staff, the grounds, everything was absolutely perfect. The breakfast was the best we had in South Africa. You will either need a car to drive back-and-forth to the city or take an Uber. It’s 25 minutes from the city central, but Ubers are extremely cheap and plentiful.

The Steenberg is absolutely beautiful and the staff couldn't have been more gracious, friendly and professional. The food at Cathrina's restaurant was beautifully prepared and the service was exceptional. The property offers lots to do but the staff also gave us the option do using their transportation to visit other wine properties in the area as well as other fine restaurants. Though only 30 minutes from the heart of Cape Town you are truly in the country and away from it all. My wife and I would go back and stay for a week in a heart beat and it is a must on the next visit to South Africa.” L. Faulk

The restaurant at the hotel is excellent and is a great place to celebrate - the high quality of the Steenberg wine helps!

We stayed in the hotel for 5 days. Playing 18 holes on the Steenberg golf course is an experience I'll never miss. So we decided already to go again!

We stayed at the Steenberg Hotel in September. We would very highly recommend Catharina's, the restaurant attached to the hotel. We couldn't find fault the food and service here - wonderful.

Steenberg was recommended to us by a friend. South Africa is wonderful and a stay at Steenberg makes it complete.
