Absolute best way to spend valentines day

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

Absolutely couldn’t fault anything about the hotel. Booked for valentine night and messaged the hotel to see if we could check in an hour early, was told that it couldn’t be guaranteed which was understandable. Turned up 2 hours early and could check in at that time which was a nice surprise. Check in was simple and quick, sign the paperwork and the key is handed over. We checked into room 318, the room is immaculate and so clean. The view out the window was of the driveway and carpark but the trees and shrubs hide it away so the view was lovely. Bathroom was very nice and clean. All amenities were topped up, q tips cotton pads, waste bags etc. Dinner in Perrotts. We went to dinner in perrots and service and food was incredible. My girlfriend got the chicken supreme (which she is still raving about) I got the lobster special, lobster was cooked perfectly and was seasoned perfectly. Sleep and noise quality. The fact the hotel is not only in the heart of the city but 5 minutes from student party central, the hotel was super quiet and the bed was so comfortable that falling asleep is not an issue Breakfast. Before we went for breakfast in the orchids restaurant. I opened the tea and coffee station in the room expecting a sachet or two of instant coffee and I was surprised to find packaged fresh ground coffee and a cafetière so the coffee was of very high quality and started my day off right. Breakfast was incredible with the continental buffet with an abundant variety of options and a hot menu too. Check out On check out we were informed someone had charged afterwards tea to our room. This issue was resolved in less than one minute by reception confirming we had only been to perrotts and was not present for afternoon tea. Check out was quick and easy To management, your staff is an absolute credit and a pleasure to have, I wish I could remember all the names but everyone was very friendly and helpful, from the groundskeeper pointing out a parking spot for us, to the concierge team who was always there to help us find our way around. Servers and managers who checked up on us to make sure we were enjoying our meals, and the cleaning staff who politely assisted me when I asked for help. I’m currently looking forward to returning for a couple of days later in the year, just need to save up for it. It’s a lot of money but completely worth it

Friendly welcome and luxurious touches.

We stayed for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Our room was spacious and comfortable and even had a Christmas tree which was a lovely surprise even thought it was January! The bed was very comfortable with the best of linens and fluffy good quality towels, something that is often neglected in other hotels. We really enjoyed the pool and outdoor jacuzzi, very peaceful & relaxing. The location is great for walking in to town and I’m sure the terrace is lovely in better weather. We had dinner there both nights and that was the least impressive part of our stay, nothing wrong with the food, but expensive for what it was and there is a “hotel dining room” feel. If we’re staying again we’d eat in the city one night. The breakfast however was probably the best I’ve ever seen, in an Irish hotel anyway, huge choice, great quality and unlimited lattes! The beautiful building and the staff are what make this hotel special. Everyone is so friendly and nothing is too much trouble, we were really well looked after and we’d love to return, once we save up!

The Best Representation of Irish Hospitality

Believe it or not, I live just a 10-minute walk from this boutique hotel. My son attends UCC on Saturdays, so I often visit the hotel bar to relax while waiting for him. The service is always warm and welcoming, and the quality of the bar food is outstanding—from ingredients to presentation to taste! Not only am I gluten & dairy-free, but due to my multicultural background, I have a very high standard when it comes to wholesome food. Yet, the bar at Hayfield Manner exceeds my expectations every time. From the seafood platter to the sea bass with salted spinach and the spiced beef sandwich, every dish is a work of art! Ps best chunky chips too btw;) For my birthday, I decided to treat myself to a stay at Hayfield. Having traveled extensively last year, I thought, why not enjoy a luxurious stay close to home? I know, it sounds a bit crazy but I have absolutely no regrets! I loved spending time in their cozy library, enjoying live piano music (which plays most of the time), and relaxing in the vintage recliners in my room, which had an elevated seating area—a charming touch. Although the hotel’s grounds are smaller compared to larger resorts, it makes up for it with its central location and beautiful greenhouse, home to many birds. My spa experience was also wonderful. Tanya, my therapist, was not only stunning but also highly skilled. She listened carefully to my preferences and tailored the treatment perfectly. She was professional throughout, making the experience truly enjoyable. For dinner, we dined at Orchids, their fine-dining restaurant. While the service and décor were delightful, we were surprised to find that the five-course meal didn’t surpass the quality of their bar food. Perhaps our expectations were set high because of our previous experiences at the bar. The kid’s burger was rather basic a nothing like home made, neither the sorbet; my partner’s halibut was overcooked and dry, and while my monkfish was decent, the portion of vegetables could have been more generous. The food presentation was fairly plain, aside from the elegant silver cloche (dome plate) used for serving. That said, the live pianist played "Happy Birthday" for me, and I received a lovely dessert with a white chocolate birthday message—such a thoughtful surprise! Breakfast the next morning at Orchids was stunning. They offered high-quality gluten-free sausages, oyster mushrooms, and salted spinach just as I requested, which made my day. I’d like to thank Hayfield Manor for making my birthday so special—especially the chef at the bar and Tanya. You are the best! I will definitely be returning very soon.

Should be a 6 star hotel

The only regret I have, is that I didn't stay 2 nights instead of 1 night. Top class service from start to finish. Every member of staff was extremely friendly and couldn't do enough for us during our stay. Food was excellent and offered a great selection of options. We will be back for another stay and this time it will be for more than 1 night.

Nice building, poor service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

The hotel sent an automated email requesting that i write a review, post visit, so here it is. The building and grounds are amazing, as soon as you pass through the gates, it's as if you're in a different world. The rooms are fantastic, clean and well maintained. There is exceptional effort on every detail. The pianists in the lobby are excellent. However, service was way off the mark which is why I'm giving my review 3 stars. For the prices charged you would expect that missing bits and pieces, condiments etc would be readily available, or at least brought to the table, when requested. Unfortunately that was not our experience at lunch, dinner and breakfast. The barman in the garden cafe kept getting our drinks order wrong at lunch. He never brought the salt and pepper we requested and it took ages to bring missing cutlery. Stout glasses were stained with remnants of the previous punter's contents .The starters at dinner were stone cold. Sides that we ordered only came when we were finished our meals (even after a host tried to come to our rescue and then seemedto disappear). The main course and deserts were nice though. We found it hard to order drinks due to a lack of staff. One staff member told me that the restaurant was over booked by nearly 40%. Our bill was mistakenly taken out of our package and a large bill was presented to us as we were about to leave the table, this was amended after some effort. We were asked to wait in the lobby for breakfast the next morning, which is fine. The host however kept on getting our room number wrong and seemed very unsure or confused. We stood up and sat down a number of times before we eventually got going and were shown to our seats. The food that was brought out to our tables did not fully match what we ordered, we didn't highlight the issue at the time due to our dining experience over the previous day's dining. Strangely I was told by the waitress that sourdough toast could not be provided with a full Irish breakfast yet others around me seemed to be eating it. I'm not sure if I would go back tbh as the service experience didn't match the price paid. High prices = high bar that Hayfield Manor did not achieve on this occasion. We left disappointed on departure.
