On the northeast shore of Sardinia, 120 miles from mainland Italy, Hotel Pitrizza enjoys a romantic and tranquil Mediterranean setting. The architecture at this associate of The Luxury Collection of Starwood Hotels & Resorts was inspired by the local island style. Handcrafted furniture and private patios highlight accommodations, whose classic simplicity frames magnificent views of Pitrizza Bay. Along with a private beach, you'll enjoy privileged access to a unique seawater swimming pool carved out of natural rock.

The last trip to Sardinia was my fourth visit to the island in the last 12 years. Porto Cervo is a destination chosen for being one of the most luxurious and prestigious locations in the Mediterranean coast. On the list of hotels we were supposed to visit were places like Cala di Volpe/ Romazzino A Belmond group hotel /7pines a Destination by Hyatt. In the past we have stayed at the Cala di Volpe hotel, this time we also did a review of the resort: 7pines a desination by hyatt. After visiting the Pitrizza hotel I can honestly say that it is a place that goes beyond European standards. Hotel location: The hotel is located 2.5 km from the main port in Porto Cervo. The property occupies a huge area with a beautiful private beach and a small marina for motorboats and potential guests who want to dock using a tender and sleep on a private yacht. Hotel design: Nothing to add, nothing to subtract - the hotel is made in the style of other prestigious properties in the Costa Smeralda area and is a combination of modernity and Mediterranean style. Comparing the quality of workmanship to e.g. 7pines resort and desitnation by Hyatt, we immediately see the highest quality of workmanship with real wood/stone - there is no feeling of cheapness and currently ubiquitous plastic and fakes. Hotels in places such as Mykonos or Marbella are also far behind. Accommodation: We have a choice of spacious apartments located in a very discreet way as well as luxurious and prestigious villas that provide maximum comfort and privacy. The villas are equipped with their own swimming pools integrated into the surroundings, which gives the impression of even greater sophistication and luxury. Service: European standards differ significantly from places such as the Maldives/Seychelles or top locations in Asia. In high-end resorts you always feel exceptional. At the Pitrizza hotel, for the first time in Europe, we felt like we were in a completely different part of the world. The service at this hotel is totally top of the notch. From opening the car door to taking you to your private villa using an exclusive buggy (we have never seen such club-car models anywhere). Restaurant: The exceptional level of service and atmosphere began at the abundant breakfast buffet. The restaurant service is very nice and has an amazing approach to guests. The views from the restaurant and its terrace are breathtaking. Summary: Comparing this hotel to the ultra-luxurious Belmond and Cala di Volpe, I have no doubt that this is something completely unique that exceeds the understanding of those traveling in Europe. A big thank you to the entire front desk team as well as manager Anna Sobueva for the hospitality and professional service

My wife and I travel a lot. Visiting nice places. Yet very very rarely we see a place, which is perfect. But hotel Pitrizza is such a place. Perfectly run place, with very attentive yet not at all intrusive staff - from the reception, restaurants, gym and beach service, room service and concierge. The place itself and its location were also fantastic. Best equipment everywhere. Fantastic and very private beach. I red the Google reviews about of the restaurant and we were surprised about some of the low ratings and comments. We very much disagree. The food was Michelin-star grade and the service also. Yes, priced accordingly. But the experience from every visit and every meal was great. If you like perfection and quality, this is the place to go. Jan (Prague)

The beach, the personnel, the food were all very good, we particularly liked the fact that this hotel doesn't harass its guests with music at the beach which became unfortunately common these days.

Great past: The Pitrizza is one of the grande dames of the Costa Smeralda. Built in the 1960s by the late Prince Aga Khan, it was ahead of its time in sustainable design concepts. Its various buildings, constructed from natural local materials, blend harmoniously with the beautiful rocky coastline and the emerald sea. The rooms are dated, both in amenities and design, creating a retro atmosphere reminiscent of a bygone era—almost like searching for lost time. With its intimate size of 65 rooms and suites, it could easily be a 5-star luxury retreat. Mixed present: Just as a successful company cannot thrive on outdated products, a hotel with a great past must continuously reinvent itself and perfect its service. This is exactly where today’s Pitrizza falls short, delivering a mixed experience. The general manager was either not present or disengaged, and you could feel the absence of a guiding spirit. Many of the original, skilled staff have been replaced by less qualified personnel, leaving the team overwhelmed and, at times, helpless. The quality of the food—one of the main reasons to vacation in Italy—was inconsistent, especially considering the extremely high prices. Promising future? We learned that a new proprietor is set to take over next year, which is an urgently needed step to reverse the decline we witnessed during our stay. Good luck, Pitrizza!
