The Shores Resort & Spa

Having visited this hotel once before and enjoyed our stay, we decided last minute to book it for NYE. We were looking forward to a mini getaway even if just for the night since we live not too far. Check in was fine, easy. Our room definitely had a more run down look than before. Housekeeping even left the couch cushions and sofabed cover on the floor, apparently not completing their tidying up, but since we didnt plan to use the sofabed, we ignored that. Unfortunately the on site restaurant quality and food options aren't what they were a few yrs ago, but no big deal. The absolute unforgivable part of this experience is that we drove home in the morning and immediately found BED BUGS on our belongings while unpacking our overnight bag. My partner also found one on himself as he was showering when we got home and we have multiple bites. I immediately called the hotel and was given the managers phone number and I called and left a message. It's been two days and I have yet to hear back, not even an acknowledgement or apology. I understand these things can happen but to not even bother to call a customer back is ridiculous. Additionally - on top of the awful experience with bugs that we now have to have our home treated for just to be safe - the hotel decided to charge us an almost $300 fee. When I called billing to inquire what the fee was for, we were told it was a smoking charge because they determined smoking had taken place in our room. My partner and I aren't smokers and have never been smokers so we absolutely did not and wouldnt have ever smoked in the room, so this very much feels like a retaliation for having to thoroughly clean a room infested with bugs. I'll be tweeting and writing this review everywhere to warn everyone how gross this is but also how poorly they treat customers who simply wanted to report the issue so that they were aware and this wouldn't happen to the next occupants.

Always a good stay, this is perhaps my tenth visit. Comfortable every time I have visited on business from UK Reception always helpful Dominic and his team at the Valet make you feel welcome each time you arrive back form your day Always a pleasure to see hom and chat

Andrew from Valet was awesome! Took great care with my truck. Was easy to check in and was welcomed with a nice little glass of champagne. Room is comfortable and the location is convenient. Right on the beach. I'm usually not one to write reviews but this is easily one of the better night stays I've had.

I was going to get dinner today it’s my first day in Florida and Andrew did great with valet took very good care of my car. I love Daytona so much so far great views even tho the weather isn’t super sunny this is my favorite weather.Hopefully this starts off a great week!

Had a tremendously warm welcome from the valet - Dominic and the receptionist (sadly didn’t catch her name but she remembered ours). They both couldn’t be anymore helpful and cheerful. The waitress’s in the Azure were again extremely helpful. My steak was originally cooked medium where I had asked for rare but they quickly rectified it with a complete fresh plate. The room had a great view of the sea and was immaculate Overall a great place to stay, sadly we only had one night in our itinerary
