Treasure Box Delight

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

My Signature Suite was a treasure box delight, suspended over the Oregon surf. Greeted with a warm "Welcome back!" The suite was spotless with a dreamy bed worthy of my princess and the pea sensibility. Sleeping to the sound of the surf is more effective than a year of therapy. Should you tire of watching whales from your deck, one of the best whale watching perches on the coast is less than a quarter of a mile south.

Truly a beautiful and unforgettable experience.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 8 months ago

We came for the weekend to celebrate our anniversary and NEVER left the entire time we were there. Actually, my husband left once to go to the store for snacks. The view from the room took our breath away and left us completely mesmerized most of the weekend, never turned on the TV, barely on our phones. We walked the beautiful grounds and spent a lot of time sitting on the deck and taking full advantage of the private soaking tub. The weather was beautiful, but chilly so the sensation of being in the hot bath with the cold, crisp wind was another experience altogether. We watched fishing boats out on the sea, and saw a few whales going by. The cute pair of seals hanging around the cove was another treat. I kept thinking how lucky we were to experience this place and the cove. Since we never really left, we had dinner both nights at the inn. That was an experience we’ll never forget. Knowing the kitchen was staffed with maybe 4 people and a server that night made us feel as if we were having a private dining experience. The food was impeccable. My husband is the gourmet so watching him enjoy our meals was another highlight for me. We like to visit local galleries whenever we travel so the beautiful art work hanging on the walls and the vintage hutch, which I believe is an Asian apothecary cabinet(?), was yet again, another delight. The spirit and energy at this place is magical. I think if I was sick I’d come here for my treatment and be healed.

Disappointing. Not the world-class inn that it once was.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 9 months ago

Unfortunately, the inn is not what it once was. My husband and I have been staying here on and off for 12-15 years. Doubtful that we will return. Maintenance is badly needed in the rooms, on the decks and outside the building. Amenities are subpar. In addition to no longer offering breakfast, which once was delightful, the rooms no longer have binoculars, a pen or a notepad. The throw on the couch is pitiful. Toilet paper and tissues are beyond poor quality. Housekeeping is terrible - the bed was just thrown together after our first night. Glasses and cups were not washed or replaced. Reception staff is friendly but not very helpful. It's sad because Whale Cove Inn was once a world-class inn in every respect. No longer. It's not a good value despite the beautiful site and rooms that were once so comfortable and now are sadly lacking. It is certainly not worth $500+ per night. Despite the decline of the inn, Restaurant Beck remains fabulous.

Doesn’t add up to a 4 Star Hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 11 months ago

This is not a 4-Star hotel! The view was wonderful, great bathroom , robes and slippers and the jacuzzi tub on the deck was great. Maintenance is greatly needed, the door was hard to open, the toilet paper holder was loose and the toilet paper itself was sand paper, the couch extremely uncomfortable, the stuffed chair was dirty and well worn (not in a good way) and the ceiling on the deck is falling apart. The office staff was consistently sitting in the lounge on her phone. Outside needs maintenance as well, lights were out, railing falling off, cracks in steps. Restaurant Beck was a wonderful experience.

Nice view and that's all you get.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed August 25, 2023

The price/value ratio for this facility is pretty low. One should expect much better service and accommodation for $500+ per night lodging. Maintenance on the property is severely lacking. Our door was very difficult to open; the lock wouldn't work. A light fixture on the outside deck was dripping water and about to fall off. Not going back...
