Gorgeous new (2020) retro reno of a stately 1913 former finance building. We stayed in a corner Studio. Soaring ceilings, large windows, terrific spacious bathroom with large, beautifully tiled shower. There’s a great outdoor courtyard where we enjoyed a glass of wine in a beautiful setting. Beautiful sitting areas in the lobby with a small coffee shop. A first rate place to stay in Des Moines.

Love my stay here. The property is very clean and pleasant. The bed was super comfortable and the room perfect! The hotel is in downtown and not too far from many destinations. I only stayed for one night, though I was super impressed. I will definitely stay here again when I am in Des Moines next.

Wonderful front desk staff, easy check in, and a gorgeous space! The room felt so unique, and cozy, just as the lobby of the hotel did. When I stepped into the hotel, it felt something along the lines of a living room, but a chic downtown version! Also, you cannot miss the in-house restaurant. Brilliant staff, an inspired menu with marvelous vegetarian options!

The staff are friendly and gracious. But the rooms, while fashionable--painted black or darkly shellacked wood floors, metal frame furniture and marble in the bathrooms--are extremely uncomfortable. First, there are no chairs and there is no desk, nor much light. That's a problem if you need to work. Moreover, the acoustics probably due to the severe decoration and high ceilings make everything inside and outside your room seems to clang, clatter and echo. Worse, is the church bell that rings every hour of the day and night and the train that sounds as if it is barreling through your room. The conductor seems to take sadistic pleasure in blowing the horn repeatedly in the dead of night. If you want to sleep, I suggest you bring high powered medication. And then there are the fees on top of an already pricey room charge. Twenty five dollars per day for parking and seventy five dollars per day if you have a pet. This was not disclosed when I made my reservation so it was an unwelcome and expensive surprise. Oh and the shower (there is not tub) has no lip and only a flimsy curtain so water floods the bathroom no matter how careful you are. But again, the staff are very nice. I hate writing a bad review but I wish someone had warned me so I'm paying it forward.

Great boutique hotel. Spent the night while on a cross-country road trip with our two Bernedoodles. Luxurious room, close to many dog friendly restaurants, clean, great fitness center with a Peloton Bike, complimentary morning coffee, convenient parking, friendly Front Desk willing to go above and beyond. No bell service or valet…which was actually welcoming (no need to bring tons of cash for tipping). We will definitely stay here again if we find ourselves back in Des Moines.
