Built in the 1950s by Laurance Rockefeller, Hyatt Hacienda Del Mar started life as an exclusive getaway for presidents and Hollywood's elite. Situated on a secluded crescent of beach on Puerto Rico's northern coast, just 22 miles west of historic San Juan, its cachet is enhanced with the magnificent Spa del Sol and 4 golf courses designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. The beautiful, airy accommodations include elegant casitas and offer ocean views from private balconies or patios. Spectacular dining ranges from the oceanfront Su Casa hacienda to the Zen Garden, serving fusion Chinese-Japanese.

Best resort for R & R. Went for 5 nights. The front desk personnel were friendly and accommodating. They also recommended a terrific tour guide ( Island Experience Tours )The rest of the staff were great as well. We booked a 1 bedroom villa. The room was spacious and clean with a great view. The food and drinks at the onsite restaurant were good. The property was clean had a large pool and a beautiful beach. Would definitely stay again.

Disappointed by Hyatt’s Lack of Compassion and Flexibility I was really looking forward to my stay at Hyatt Vacation Club at Hacienda del Mar in Dorado, but unfortunately, my experience with their customer service has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. I have always associated the Hyatt brand with quality, service, and a commitment to their guests, but my recent interaction has made me seriously question whether they truly care about their customers beyond just taking their money. I had a reservation booked well in advance, but due to **a serious and unexpected accident that required multiple surgeries**, I was unable to travel during my original dates. Given the circumstances, I reached out to the hotel, not to request a refund, but simply to **change the dates of my stay** so that I could visit at a later time when I had recovered. Not only was my request **completely reasonable**, but the new dates I requested were actually **cheaper** than my original booking. Despite explaining my situation and even offering to provide documentation regarding my medical emergency, Hyatt **flat-out refused to accommodate my request**. I was met with cold, rigid policies and an utter lack of empathy from their customer service team. While I understand that hotels have policies in place, I also know that most reputable hospitality brands make exceptions for guests dealing with **major medical emergencies or unforeseen life events**. Unfortunately, that was not the case here. What’s most frustrating is that allowing me to reschedule would not have cost them anything. If anything, **Hyatt would have made more money by keeping my original payment and rebooking my cheaper dates.** Instead, they chose to prioritize rigid rules over **basic human decency**. At a time when I was dealing with a physically and emotionally challenging recovery, the last thing I needed was added stress from a company that I had trusted. This experience has made me seriously reconsider ever booking with Hyatt again. There are plenty of other vacation properties that understand that **life happens and that treating customers with fairness and compassion is more valuable than sticking to inflexible policies.** To anyone considering booking here: **be aware that if an emergency arises, you will get no sympathy or support from Hyatt Vacation Club.** If you're looking for a brand that values its guests, you might be better off booking elsewhere.

I was pleasantly surprised by the Hyatt Hacienda del Mar in Dorado, Puerto Rico. My husband and I booked our trip through Expedia and I was reluctant to go to Puerto Rico. I had been to Puerto Rico twice before and the last time, we also stayed in the Dorado area. I checked the Hyatt website after we booked our trip and the website said there may be noise at the hotel due to construction. I called the hotel and the representative was honest and said that on one side of the hotel, there is demolition occurring and there may be noise during day hours but it is not every day and not so bad. At this point, it did not matter because our stay was already booked. The size of the hotel is perfect. It is not huge so that one has to walk a lot and yet it is spacious. The property has beautiful grounds which include a tennis court and basketball court (by the parking lot, across the road from the main entrance). Parking is spacious and FREE which was a big plus for us since we rented a car this trip. The pool at the hotel has 8 laps (a must for my husband who loves to swim) and extends to an additional swimming area and another smaller pool (for babies and kids). There are two hot tubs (one on each side of the pool area). There are plenty pool chairs and seating areas. The landscaping is magnificent with palm trees surrounding the pool area. As far as hotel activities, there is bingo and meditation and other activities varying by day. The hotel grounds have a small soccer area and volleyball area and two bbq grills. The clubhouse has a game room for kids with air hockey, a pool table and other games. The gym is well stocked with lots of equipment and is open 24 hours a day (just use your room card). The pool hours are until 10 pm and the pool is well lit at night. The beach is private and magnificent. The hotel room we were given was a corner unit with a full kitchen, huge balcony and had views of both the pool and ocean. The staff was amazing and super helpful and friendly. There is a small bar/restaurant (not formal) that is privately owned - just right for cocktails and drinks and light meals. I highly recommend the Hyatt Hacienda del Mar. I hope to return soon. The hotel completely changed my views regarding Puerto Rico. It is definitely worth a visit!

The hotel is nice and the rooms are large. We stayed there as a hotel, but it is clearly a condo situation. There aren't amenities like transportation, excursions, etc. I know this is normal for a time share type place, but as a heads up for those who will reserve it as a hotel like we did. The pool, beaches, bar & restaurant, all the staff -- top notch. Very friendly and accommodating staff, and the drinks are fabulous. Biggest piece of advice: rent a car. There is only one restaurant on the property, and while it's really good, you will likely want to try other restaurants and go to the grocery. Uber cannot find the property! They will tell you that when you check in. Taxis can be called, but the price adds up quickly. We will rent a car from the airport next time. All over, a great time!

Beautiful resort with friendly staff. Loved the private beach and all the fun activities. We enjoyed the food and all the amenities the resort had to offer. Lots of stray dogs but they are all docile. All rooms has a balcony where you can see the ocean.
