Shimmering like a mirage in the desert landscape of Dubai, the Meliá Desert Palm is an oasis of chic. Lush green contrasts dramatically with the surrounding sandscapes, and the architecture takes delicate cues from local design. From Palm Rooms to the lavish, private Villa Layali, accommodations here enhance your Arabian nights. Gastronomes will find reason to rejoice at Rare, where wood-fired steak and game are prepared in an exquisite show kitchen, and Red, serving fine antique vintages.

Just an amazing experience, nothing more to add. We have stayed at Al Waha - super stylish and cozy villa. Very helpful staff and management. I have to mention 2 beautiful persons working at this wonderful hotel - Nerea & Youssef who made our stay unforgettable! Many thanks!!!Definitely will come again!!!

I stayed for six days to learn polo at the club next door and Melia Desert Palm was the perfect place to rest and recharge after a morning of sports. The rooms are comfortable, with huge bed and bathroom, and a serene view of a polo field — cleaned every day with care by Suman, Vishal and Mary. I also lounged by the beautiful pool, which was never crowded and was very peaceful. Of course, had a lovely few hours of awesome massages with Shina and Anna, with more resting rooms inside the spa. The restaurants were all lovely — try their healthy and hearty Gulf Breakfast — especially Epicure. All the staff are so friendly and courteous and knowledgeable, especially David and Haridas (who brought me to the polo field and back by buggy every day) as well as Maria and Mohammad/Nafis at reception, who made sure I was well taken care of from check-in to check-out.

Anna and Tisha are perfect professionals who ensured we were comfortable. They gave us amazing massages and the spa itself is elegant, clean, and has all the facilities you need including sauna, steam room, ice room, hot seats, and even a cold plunge pool. Tea and dried fruits at the end were a nice touch as well. We would definitely come back.

Rare has been a shocking disappointment, and I cannot fathom how this place still has a 4.6 rating. The inconsistency is simply appalling—what was once a decent dining experience has deteriorated into an overpriced mess. We were only a small group, yet our bill for starters and mains (no alcohol, mind you) totaled almost AED 2000 (over $500 USD). For what? Dishes that were mediocre at best and certainly not worth the exorbitant price tag. The pricing and quality are worlds apart, and it’s hard to justify the cost for such a lackluster experience. It’s truly sad to see how Rare has gone downhill over the years. The standards have plummeted, and the overall experience leaves much to be desired. A restaurant that charges this much should at least deliver consistent quality and service. Unfortunately, Rare does neither. If you’re looking for value, taste, or even a reliable experience, look elsewhere. Rare has become anything but exceptional, and it’s not worth your time or money.
