In the heart of Dublin, on a quiet, leafy avenue in the Victorian quarter of Ballsbridge stands an oasis of country tranquility: Butlers Townhouse. This elegant property retains many of its original features, creating an intimate ambience with a degree of personalized service that belongs to a bygone era. Deep sofas and wing-backed Grandfather chairs make the drawing room a welcome respite from the cityâ€(TM)s hustle and bustle, and each of the 20 guestrooms is richly appointed for comfort and convenience. With a prime location in Dublin's Embassy belt, the city's main attractions are moments away.

I stayed at Butlers Townhouse at the beginning of December and really enjoyed my time there. The place is lovely, and the lounge upstairs is well-kept and has a great atmosphere. The location is excellent—very convenient—and the price was fantastic for what’s offered. I’m not the biggest fan of having a room in the basement, but it’s a minor issue. Next time, I’ll be sure to request a room on a higher floor. Overall, a delightful experience, and I can’t wait to visit again!

Absolutely shocking, super disappointed on arrival room was beyond dirty so cold carpet so dirty, behind the bed was full of dust . I stayed here many times before it was closed and then sold on . It was back them so beautiful so sad to see it in this state . No manager to talk to about the state of the room, the girl at the reception said she had only her personal phone number so this young girl was left to deal with it and she completely agreed the room was awful. Please be very careful when booking here as you will be so disappointed honestly you will not stay here we had to leave and find alternative accommodation, Broken window also dirty curtains only I light in the room and the one coming in the door is dimmed and for a reason I would say . I don’t know how it has 4 stars

I would point anyone looking at reviews to the timeline because clearly at some point this went from being a nice place to a very disappointing one. My bathroom was not clean, the room was dated (not sure moly Victorian as they keep responding) and poorly kept and the self check in is not effective and not helped by the rude person I spoke with to try and get in to my room. I would simply say don’t stay here.

I stayed at this place 10 years ago and LOVED it so I booked it again...OMG, It has become a DUMP! the carpet is worn and stained; the wallpaper faded. Our tiny room was reasonably clean and the bed comfy, but the other furniture worn out. And what happened to their beautiful lounge? Not only was the furniture worn, it was DIRTY. The service? Non existent. Now you enter with a code. And, since there is no service, you can't leave your luggage there after you check out. We did ask for a late checkout and after several hours, we got a response telling us NO. Expensive, too! apparently the owners are trying to milk every le=ast dime out of this place while letting it get run down. What disappointment!

This is truely a 2.5 star hotel at the very best. On the surface the location, building and room appear to have a historic look. In reality this is a run down hotel which would be better called a backpackers hostel and the room rates are inflated. When you arrive you will find an overgrown courtyard with dilapidated stairs. Inside you will find no one, you will receive email instructions and never hear from anyone. If you have issues with your room as we did you will not find much help. When we arrived we found the following issues. 1. Back window would not close. 2. Heaters would not work or were extremely noisy. 3. Shower would not go hot. 4. Missing cup While staying we found additional issues. 1. Toilet seat was loose / broken and it would not stay up when you tried to use it. 2. Shower wouldn’t go hot and the drain was backing up leaving you standing is a cold shower ankle deep in water. 3. Missing shelf above the sink 4. Missing towel rail on the door. We tried multiple time to contact the property for help. They sent someone into our room without notice while we were away. They sort of fixed the window and made an attempt at the shower but that remained broken, The second day we tried to get help again even offering to switch rooms to allow them to repair the issues. This time they let us know they would send someone in to help while we were out. When we returned we found all the issues remained with the exception of the broken heater as they simply removed with out a replacement. The heat pump in the room had a terrible grinding and buzzing noise that made sleeping not possible. We asked to have a manager come to see us and the request was simply ignored. The historic character of the building and room give the illusion of luxury but in truth that Is lipstick on a pig. If you are looking to pay too much to stay in a worn out 2 star backpacker hostel this is the place. If you want a luxury stay you are better off anywhere else.

I had a wonderful stay for 4 days at Butlers Town House. I enjoyed a spacious room and a delicious full Irish breakfast each morning, followed by full tea service at 3:30. I really never had to eat anything or anywhere else, and everything was included. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Last September, we found Butlers Town House in Dublin. It was like being a guest in a lovely Georgian home! We had the best sleep in ages! The Conservatory was a lovely setting for breakfast every day. We definitely recommend it.

The accommodations we received at Butlers Town House in Dublin were truly luxurious. How nice to find something that is true to its billing on the Internet. The house staff treated us so very well.
