About the Hotel

Gracefully created from four restored Georgian townhouses, The Merrion is an historic retreat in the heart of Dublin. Only a tiny brass nameplate marks the hotel's unassuming brick exterior, but inside, marble floors and columns and ornate rococo plasterwork ceilings show off the grand style of 18th century Ireland. Each element of the hotel inspires admiration--from the bedrooms adorned with Irish fabrics and antiques to Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud to the soothing ambience of Tethra Spa. Take time to enjoy the notable works of 19th and 20th century art, considered to be one of the most important private collections in Ireland.

Reviews for The Merrion

A haven of calm, beauty, fun and delicious food.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

We don’t go to Dublin, we go to The Merrion. A haven of calm, beauty, fun, outstanding food and an unfailingly warm welcome. The surroundings are beautiful but for me it is the staff who really make the difference; they remember that my daughter enjoys grapes and a side dish of complimentary grapes appear on our room service supper table; a few moments delay in the breakfast room and a handwritten note with a white chocolate crafted snowman appears in the room; genuine care and good humoured attention to detail at every turn. And that is before we mention the pool! The Merrion, our best kept secret. 🤫

Charming Historic Boutique Hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

An exquisite jewel of an historic boutique hotel. It was my first visit to The Merrion, but I hope it won’t be my last. The attention to detail and the immaculate cleanliness of the room and bathroom was exceptional. The staff are warm and welcoming and very attentive. The location is unbeatable and within a short walk to Stephan’s Green, Grafton Street, Trinity College, etc. The National Gallery has one of the best Caravaggio paintings in the world and is a few hundred yards from the hotel.

A superlative hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

The Merrion Hotel is a superlative hotel in the heart of Dublin, offering a world-class art collection, fantastic dining, beautiful rooms, friendly attentive, dedicated and professional staff, and a carbon-neutral approach to hotel management. While it is an expensive hotel, the value is tremendous.

Wonderful family stay in Merrion Hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

We had a wonderful family stay in the Merrion Hotel. Facilities were superb. Everyone went out of their way to be as helpful as possible and were a pleasure to deal with. Great central location adjacent Stephens Green and Merrion Square and a host of other facilities and visitor attraction. Rooms were attractive, very comfortable and maintained and cleaned to the very highest standards. Excellent dining facilities. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.
