Gracefully created from four restored Georgian townhouses, The Merrion is an historic retreat in the heart of Dublin. Only a tiny brass nameplate marks the hotel's unassuming brick exterior, but inside, marble floors and columns and ornate rococo plasterwork ceilings show off the grand style of 18th century Ireland. Each element of the hotel inspires admiration--from the bedrooms adorned with Irish fabrics and antiques to Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud to the soothing ambience of Tethra Spa. Take time to enjoy the notable works of 19th and 20th century art, considered to be one of the most important private collections in Ireland.

This hotel is incredible. It feels more like a private house than hotel. Beautiful surroundings, Great bars and restaurants but the biggest thing is the service. Often you feel that a nice hotel is comfortable but usually a bit lacking in all the small niceties you would really like. Not here. They go above and beyond in everything they undertake. We asked about a picking in Merrion Square park and they arranged everything for us including a blanket to sit on. No detail is too small. The pool is very relaxing with steam room and sauna and once again just an incredibly helpful welcoming staff. This is an expensive hotel but worth every penny!

A good hotel with personalised touch and friendly people. I would stay at this hotel again. Definitely a must stay for art lovers. Their gifts to us were truly amazing. For someone who likes old Georgian architecture I would recommend main building.

There is nowhere in Dublin that meets the standard of the Merrion Hotel. A one night staycation there feels like a long weekend anywhere else! From moment you arrive to the wonderful Merrion welcome, no detail is left to chance. I mentioned in pre-check in email that I was arriving early to have a bath before going out - and found a jar of bath salts ready for me on the side of the bath! Its the little details! The Merrion Turn Down service is something else - it is a wonderful treat to arrive back to your room to find everything so neatly arranged, right down to phone cables and chargers in their new Merrion Hotel chord straps, and the linen laid out for your toiletries. Now the only issue is trying to find an excuse to book in again, and soon!

This an exemplary luxury hotel in every way.It consists of Georgian houses with a rich and colorful history. The level of service is incomparable. Every single person on staff proves outstanding service from the time you wake up until the sweet lady arrives to provide your “ turn down service” which included neatly folding your clothes. The large, paneled room with beautiful and interesting paintings is a gorgeous place to enjoy afternoon tea, whether it’s the full menu or just a pot of expertly poured tea. The whole hotel is beautifully furnished , including the comfortable, pretty rooms. Make a point of taking an audio tour on the outstanding art collection and the history of the hotel. Don’t miss your chance to stay there, it costs money but you get your moneys worth!!

A nice hotel overall, although I was not as wowed as the majority of other reviewers. Our room was pretty and overlooked the garden. The bathroom was also spacious. Everything was very clean. There were some nice welcome treats in our room. The bed was comfy. However we had requested a quiet room and were put right next to the elevator and the cleaning closet, with the door opening and closing frequently. Turn down came after 9pm two nights in a row (we were already settled in for the night so missed it). We were underwhelmed by both dinner in the Garden Room and breakfast. One morning, our server just completely forgot about us and didn’t take our order. Unfortunately we had to go, so weren’t able to get hot food. Hotel staff seemed competent enough but not overly friendly, at least to us. Pre-arrival communication was slow - we don’t live in Ireland and so communicated via email - responses came eventually (for the most part) but not quickly like other hotels in Ireland.
