Dark room but excellent dining

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 months ago

We stayed in King Room 9, which was rather dark and narrow with antique decorations and antlers over the fireplace. The bathroom was small with dark blue tile around the Jacuzzi tub. I did not find the mattress very comfortable (thin and noisy), but overall the room was adequate for the one night we stayed. We had excellent meals at the Tavern. For dinner we had the entire terrace to ourselves on a beautiful summer evening, with live music next door at Tideline Public House. We asked they had sangria, and they made a pitcher for us. We shared clam chowder, which was thick and tasty. I got the crabcake sandwich special, subbing coleslaw for fries. It was enormous - at least 5 inches in diameter, with a light, crispy crust. My husband had delicious balsamic salmon on succotash. We got an excellent creme brulee for dessert. The continental breakfast the next morning was a nice spread, including hard-boiled eggs and a waffle station with sliced strawberries, maple syrup and whipped cream. We ate by ourselves again on a beautiful morning on the terrace.

Inn adjacent to Univ of HN

We spent one night while visiting the college. Easy walking distance from train station and town. It is at "edge of town". A nicely kept inn. Staff were pleasant and we needed little assistance other than checking in at desk. The room was cute and comfortable. There is a restaurant and pub but we did not eat there. The bed was comfortable and shower with good heat/pressure.

Wonderful one-night stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed July 28, 2023

I stayed here on the last leg of a solo road trip and it was a very relaxing atmosphere to end my trip. My check-in staff member was wonderful and even helped me carry my bags to my room. I stayed in a King room in the building beside the main office. Bed was comfy and room was spacious. Many restaurants deliver through DoorDash to the hotel, which was very convenient. Breakfast was a standard continental cold breakfast (fruit, yogurt, juice) with a Belgian wafflemaker. It was simple, but tasty. Would stay here again.

Charming Historic Inn

We were traveling from Maine to home and wanted to break up the trip a bit. This Inn in the college town of Durham was so much better than an interstate hotel. The Inn was clean and comfortable and the service was fantastic. Highly recommend this wonderful Inn!

Comfortable Room & Cozy Tavern and Incredible Ambiance

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed December 14, 2022

We were on a brief getaway trip to New Hampshire and Maine and spent a night here. The front desk clerk was friendly and informative. She took the time to escort us to our room, which was located in the building next store. Our king room was beautifully decorated and the exposed beams made us feel like we were really in a 1700s-era home. The bed was extremely comfortable and we loved the gas fireplace The Tavern consists of a cozy bar area and dining rooms. After our drinks, we had a delicious prime rib steak dinner. The only criticism is the continental breakfast. Would like to have seen a larger assortment of pastries.

The Three Chimneys Inn in Durham, NH, is an incredibly interesting place and one to which we will be retuning this month. The rooms are charming and the dining room one Martha Stewart would approve of because of its collection of furniture and china. The outdoor activities are great fun as well.
