Reviews for The Baker House 1650

Comfortably perfect

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

The Baker House was the rare place I found to be very tastefully decorated and appointed in every regard. A lover of colonial decor, I appreciated the genuine quality of what must have been a labor of love! I hope to return often - particularly in October when East Hampton is less crowded than it is during the summer months.

The Best in East Hampton!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 months ago

The Baker House is the terrific! I love it! It is in a wonderful location in East Hampton and the best place to stay. All the rooms are unique and different. Everything on the property is beautiful - the grounds, pools, rooms and common areas. The two pools are lovely. Breakfast is delicious and the servers are friendly and accommodating. Housekeeping is terrific as well. The staff at the front desk is warm and welcoming. The owner Antonella is very nice. Always love staying here. Looking forward to another visit.

Things have changed…

I visited this place with a girlfriend of mine and we just ended up feeling like an inconvenience the whole time. The staff barely regarded us and didn’t acknowledge simple requests like may we have some glassware or small fan for our room since the Air Conditioning was not effectively cooling. We asked for a tour of the spa and the front desk couldn’t find someone (anyone on the property) to take us to the basement to let us look at it. It was just a very strange girls trip, regardless of how pretty the house looks, I’d also like an experience/stay to match that.

An Beautiful Place to Stay

The Baker House 1650 in East Hampton is just an amazing bed and breakfast experience. It's an old house from 1600's with all the old world charm. If you want to have a massage or the private pool make an appointment and reserve your private time. The rooms are quite beautiful and offer a lot of charm and all the necessities. They offer delicious breakfast each morning, The staff is extremely friendly and helpful.

Crazy, Rigid Cancel Policy

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 9 months ago

I never stayed there, and now am glad I won't be! This is about their rigidity in relation to cancellations even several months in advance. I was charged a 10% cancellation fee for a two night reservation i held for less than 4 days, 8, months in advance. Amounting to around $200.00. While I didn't actually stay there, I wanted to warn potential customers not to make a reservation if there is even a remote possibility that their plans will change. I cancelled my reservation for 8 months out just a few days after making it, because I found a much more reasonably priced accommodation. First, the hotel did not refund the one night deposit ($965) after my cancellation even though they sent an email confirmation that they had deducted the charge and assured me verbally by phone that "nothing had been charged yet". Thus I had to follow up with another call the next week to actually get the cancellation confirmed. When I spoke to the person that time, I asked again if that might, in the interest of good customer service, refund the $200 or so cancellation free for the way-in-advance reservation that I made for two nights. That person said they'd refer the matter to a manager but couldn't do anything themself. I followed up with a detailed email about the above and requested again, in the spirit of good customer service given the time frame involved, that they refund the cancel fee (I don't think I should have to pay $200 for spending a few minutes on the phone with one of their reservation folks this far in advance). I heard nothing back and so will work with my credit card company to see if they can help me out on this. In sum: don't make a reservation of any length, any amount of time in advance, if there's a possibility that your plans will change!!
