Unfortunately we booked what looked like a nice hotel for 3 nights for my birthday, the first holiday I’ve managed to have in 5 years (and I let them know that in advance and asked for a nice room). Because of storm Eowyn we had to delay by one day and night and kept them in the know as they kept emailing me of my arrival time. When we got there it was dark and they embarrassingly came to my room to ask for proof that I had already paid , I had to show my email receipt to the receptionist on my phone and send it to him it again via email! Why didn’t they check that beforehand? It was humiliating and embarrassing, and not what you want on your birthday after a 5 hour drive! Later we realised our room was below street level so we had to keep our blinds drawn the whole time as people walked past could see in! No toiletries by the bath, there was a fill up shampoo in the shower but it couldn’t be removed to take over to the bath. So we had to go buy some shampoo and conditioner which they sell near reception! Also coffee pods have to be purchased too! This place was not cheap and I have never stayed in a decent hotel that you have to bring your own toiletries ever. Also you have to pay extra to park in their car park per night.

Just blown away by the fabulous spacious clean accommodation. Bedroom and lounge with 2 bathroms. Perfect location. Gorgeous historic building. Great to have an honesty bar reasonably priced, a room with pool and football table. Friendly helpful staff. Definitely a 5 star experience. I did look at the 1 and 2 star reviews (as couldn't believe anyone would leave less than a 5 star rebiew!) and saw they were dated over 10 years ago! Would love to stay again.

Lovely warm comfortable. Very nice lady on reception. Taxi to city was just over a tenner but it's walking g distance of you fancy it. Big problem. I could see the bathroom floor didny look clean so I wiped it with damp toilet paper. Same with en suite. It was disgusting filthy, as if it hadn't been washed in weeks. They use outside cleaners and it will be reported to them
