Superb luxury and great facilities

Superb all round. We attended our works Christmas party at this hotel and from arrival to departure this hotel is superb: the attention to detail from the welcome and help with your bags, friendly reception staff then onto the rooms! Absolute luxury! Proper milk no less for the teas and coffees - accompanied by beautiful shortbread! Bathing accessories, shower and bath all great and not those locked down pump action bubble bath abs lotions but real bottles you can use. The bed and bed linen is so comfy too - you even get a highland cow to use as your do not disturb sign if needed (these can be purchased at reception also should you want to take one home) Onto the evening reception. Separate bar, drink on arrival and a well served dinner. Hosted by DJ Edinburgh who was excellent! Service from waiting staff was exceptional. Clearing the table as the night went on so you weren’t left with a load of empty pulled Christmas crackers, dirty glasses etc! The breakfast is a sight to behold! You have to try one of everything- I dare you lol If I was being picky I’d have turned the music down during the meal so we could talk without shouting but it didn’t spoil the evening overall. We have been to many a work Christmas party at similar venues across the UK but this will take some beating! Thank you to all the staff front ans back if house for making us feel welcome We didn’t make use of the spa! Didn’t fancy walking outside in a robe to get there - maybe next time

Great Edinburgh Hotel on outskirts

Lovely hotel, exceptionally friendly and attentive staff. Good bar food options. Breakfast good variety and very fresh produce. Staff helpful with local knowledge and suggestions Room very comfortable, especially the bed and adjustable radiator for warmth. Spa quiet, clean and adequate Everywhere tastefully decorated for Christmas. Enjoyed our stay whilst visiting family pre Christmas. Thank you for all staff.

Nice hotel but needs refurbishing! Let down by the expensive price and condition of the room.

The hotel was nice enough, however I wouldn’t say worth the money you pay. Staff were very friendly and attentive, and breakfast was lovely (you get a choice from a menu as well as a buffet which I appreciated and the vegetarian breakfast I had was very nice). I liked the spa facilities, although not great having to walk outside to access them in the colder months, and I thought the bar area was nice although a little dated. I think the older part of the hotel could do with being refurbished as one night the bar area had a leak in the roof when it was raining, and the hotel had to bring in portable heaters as it was so cold. I did really like the fact the bar was open 24/7 for residents, however the beer selection was appalling and drinks were served in very cheap pint glasses (not what you’d expect for a 4* hotel). Unfortunately what primarily let this hotel down was the room that myself and my partner were staying in, it was very old and dated and there were stains and marks all over the walls. I think the rooms could do with a big refresh. The rooms did get cleaned very well by the cleaners and I liked the addition of the stuffed animal, I thought that was a nice touch. Overall, with some refurbishment and modernisation and better drinks selection, I think this hotel could be fabulous, but the state of the room really did let it down. Had we not paid as much I wouldn’t have minded, but £450 for two nights stay, to have dirty walls, and a leaky roof in the lounge area, is not getting my money’s worth in my opinion. We stayed in the older part of the hotel, so I can’t comment on the rooms in the newer part (although these would be more expensive I assume). The grounds of the hotel are lovely, and it’s easily accessible. There’s free parking if driving there. If wanting to go into the city centre the hotel offer a shuttle to the nearby park and ride and then you can catch a tram from there. We also didn’t find getting an uber back from Edinburgh city centre at night, too difficult either. A good location if you are needing to be by the airport as well. A nice hotel but let down by the condition of the room mainly. I wouldn’t advise staying unless you get a good deal, or you can pay a bit extra to stay in the nicer/more modern part of the hotel.

Fabulous Hotel

What a lovely hotel, set in it own grounds. The staff were fantastic, they were very helpful and knowledgeable. Breakfast in terms of quality and choice was superb. However the highlight for us was the pool and spa facilities. We cannot wait to return.

1 night stay. Very disappointed.

Nice hotel in good location for airport. Pleasant room. My stay was spoiled by dishonest staff. I realised when I got home that I’d left an expensive bottle of aftershave in the room (£120). I called and was told it was not there. It 100% was. Nothing much you can do in this situation but very disappointing. I won’t stay again.
