The majestic structure housing The Scotsman Hotel has dominated the Edinburgh skyline for over a century, and has enchanted residents and visitors to the region since opening in 2001. This grand destination promises unsurpassed luxury. Residing in the former Scotsman Newspaper building, the hotel's lavish interior pays homage to its storied past, preserving the ornate ceilings, oak paneling, and imposing marble pillars. Located on renowned North Bridge in one of Scotland's largest cities, The Scotsman's elaborate façade seamlessly blends into Edinburgh's breathtakingly baroque backdrop. Each of the hotel's guest rooms is distinctive in its grandeur and design with elegant features including curved corner bay windows, marble bathrooms, and exquisite views of the city. The property, a part of the LVX collection of Preferred Hotels & Resorts also features a sprawling private screening room complete with opulent leather seats, because nothing is as important as your luxury experience at The Scotsman Hotel.

This hotel is flawless. This is our second time staying here whilst in town for a gig and we already can't wait to return. The ambience and scent in the foyer instantly sets the tone for your stay. Everything is spotless and the attention to detail is wonderful. The staff are so friendly and attentive that you feel instantly relaxed. Thank you to all of the team as your hardwork clearly pays off!

We’ve booked two rooms for 5 nights; there were some suspicious activity where someone was trying to open our room door between 10 - 11 pm at night for both rooms although they are far from each other and there are no CCTV in the hallways. The maintenance in the rooms needs to be enhanced, one of the rooms had loose light switch for the bathroom which caused the light to flicker and a loose door handle. Room cleaning service is poor compared to it being a 4-star hotel, I’d rate the cleanliness 6/10 Pros: - spacious rooms compared to other hotels in the area - Great location, near old and new town as well as Waverley train station - Historical building

The hotel is in a great location. It’s a beautiful old, historic building but it is let down by the quality of the breakfast and it’s also in need of a refurbishment. Room - lovely room and beautiful bathroom but the bathroom stank of stale water - no ventilation. The room is general needs a lick of paint, the carpets need to replaced (covered in stains) and the upholstery needs cleaned / replaced. Breakfast - on both morning we ate a cold breakfast. Eggs are cooked to order but both times arrived cold - yuk. The food on the hot buffet was cold and dry, and the bacon was overcooked - brittle. What a disappointment and not what you expect from a hotel that is branding itself as ‘top quality’. So overall, for the money paid, this did not live up to our expectations.

Disappointed with dinner. We were really looking forward to dinner, and had high expectations. Unfortunately the meal was mediocre and my dessert was burnt. We were seated at the front near the door, the restaurant was empty and the other tables were not reserved, I did ask to be seated inside and the guy rolled his eyes and reluctantly took us further inside.

We were on the fourth floor. The room was nice and clean. The carpet in the hallways were very worn and should be replaced soon. The staff were very friendly. The hotel is across from the railway station and a block away from High street. Walking distance to the castle and other amazing places to visit.
