The Scotsman Hotel was fantastic! The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Rooms were large, comfortable and had great amenities. Location is super convenient, especially if you’re planning to take the train. Would definitely stay here again!

The staff went out of their way to accommodate us without notice following a problematic accommodation booking at a nearby venue. Staff in the Grand Cafe were very attentive and warm. A special shout out to Amelia (who also speaks French) for taking care of us at dinner. Beautifully designed spaces in a historic building which was originally constructed as the Scotsman newspaper building. The wee drams in our room were a nice touch.

We had our wedding at the Scotsman hotel. We stayed for two nights in the publisher suite with our wedding reception held in the boardroom. From the minute we arrived to when we left we could not fault the service. Nothing was a bother and the hotel Staff could not do enough for us. For our wedding reception we did not have to lift a finger and the waiting staff were incredible. We cannot recommend the Scotsman hotel and will definitely return!

The entrance on the ground floor when you enter is dirty and grubby not a great first impression. Getting to the reception in the lift and then not getting much information about breakfast /dinner . I arrived after 6pm and at 7pm went to the bar to find a wedding on so was the sent to a mezzanine floor for drinks waited 20 mins ? . Following day went for breakfast which is in a horrible room downstairs on the 3 rd floor again not very clean and a strange smell which put me off so no breakfast was taken . The room is fine but would have expected a bath in an upgraded room . I feel this hotel is very expensive for what is provided and there is better in the city . The staff were very shabby and I would say the servers were not of a clean standard you would expect in a hotel of this price and standards . A very disappointing stay .

We booked the Twilight wedding package for ~90 adults and ~10 children. We only had our wedding reception there (we had our ceremony somewhere else). The Scotsman was absolutely the perfect choice! To be entirely honest, when I booked the Scotsman, I was a bit worried that the Fettercairn and Jura suite would look a bit like two meeting rooms rather than a wedding venue. On our wedding day it completely transformed, I couldn’t believe it! It looked so cozy with the wood panels and dimmed lights. I also really appreciated that there were so many hang out spaces available for us, especially during the comfort breaks! We didn’t add anything extra to what the package was offering but I honestly think the place doesn’t really need it. It was such a nice colour palette - everything looked so beautiful and soft and modern, also because the background was the beautiful Garden suite with the hanging plant decor. The table settings were so beautiful and the table clothes were freshly steamed. The only decor we had the table flowers and the stationery (table names and room signs designed by Olivia) which were available in the package. The chairs were the ones already available in the hotel and they looked so nice, arranged by the upholstery colours! We took great pictures in the massive windows leading down to the venue. Because the location is so central, we had a chance to meetup at the hotel earlier and take photos on the Royal Mile and the surrounding streets as well. I also just found out that the venue had another ceilidh in the Grand cafe that day. Our event was so private that none of us have noticed! Special mention to the food too because I also had some concerns about serving a buffet thinking that 1. there might not be enough food for everyone 2. it might be messy. I even initially took a small amount of food in case there weren’t enough (and I found out later that my husband did the same :D). These concerns were proven wrong quickly. There was SO MUCH food and they were all delicious. Our guests were fed so well, my husband and I also went for seconds. I think when we had the wedding cake out it went unnoticed because people were already really full! The setup was in Jura and it was chic with the silver buffet warmers. I also had some guests with some dietary requirements like Celiac and Vegan and they also said their special food were really good. We Turks have high standards about our food and we hate sending people back home hungry. Both the Scots and the Turks loved the food so I really appreciate all of this. We had enough space for our ceilidh band to set up once most of the tables were removed. Removing the tables wasn’t a problem because there were still some tables available and the Press bar had plenty of seats. We could even dance strip the willow with around ~60 people formed in two lines. Press Bar and the Garden Suite being available ensured that the comfort break in between the food and the band setup wasn’t boring or awkward. I really appreciated that Julia and Olivia were really flexible in terms of the plans, especially regarding last minute table changes, us storing things on the same day, the timeline of the events and what the package exactly includes. I never feel pressured into buying any extras in the planning process. They made the whole thing so stress free and I could see the attention to detail they had. The staff working that night (Ewan, the bar staff and the waiters) were all very nice and polite. They also gave us an extra quiet room to store our things. I felt really supported by them on the day of the event. Honestly, it was worth every penny. We all felt so special and I was so happy that I could treat my friends and family well. I’m so glad I chose to trust Julia and Olivia as they know what they’re doing.
