We had a great check-in experience—the reception and concierge staff were amazing, always happy, helpful, and willing to assist with anything. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, which we really appreciated. However, our dining experience at The Commons Club was disappointing. The food quality was not up to standard, the flavors were lacking, and our server was not particularly friendly. Unfortunately, breakfast was also underwhelming, with limited options. No one explained that we could order from the menu—they simply placed it on the table without any guidance. A particularly odd moment was when my partner asked for strawberry jam, and we were told, “Sorry, we don’t have any more.” A simple item like that should either be restocked or substituted with an alternative. While the hotel itself and the front-of-house service were fantastic, I believe the Food & Beverage department needs improvement to match the overall experience.

We've stayed at many wonderful hotels over the years, but Virgin Hotels stands out as one of the few places where we truly felt a genuine connection with the staff. Everyone was so down-to-earth, making every interaction feel effortless and enjoyable. Beyond the exceptional hospitality, the hotel's architecture and interior design added to the overall experience, making our stay truly memorable. We will definitely be returning in the future!

My partner had booked a three night stay at the Virgin Hotel Edinburgh as a birthday present. I also wanted to propose to her as our stay fell over Valentines Day. To say the stay went beyond our expectations would be an understatement. Firstly we got to the hotel an hour and thirty minutes early and the receptionist happily got us into our room with no issues. We were met with a birthday card, a box of chocolates and red heart balloons. The room was spacious, cozy and warm (esp because it was freezing outside). Breakfast on every morning was amazing and very filling. I don't think I've slept in a more comfortable and large bed in my life and whenever we'd encounter any staff they were friendly and polite. The hotel is in the heart of the city on Victoria Street which has such an energy to it. Also all the restaurants and places are either on your doorstep or are no further than 15/20 minutes away. That might seems far but it gives you a chance to walk around Edinburgh which is full of so much history. As mentioned I wanted to propose to my partner while in Edinburgh and this is where the staff at the Virgin Hotel really made this visit special. I asked reception if they had anywhere nice I could ask her. Straight away they suggested the Roof Terrace because it had a view of Edinburgh Castle and that I speak to Ed in Concierge. Ed was beyond brilliant! Within a matter of moments he confirmed the terrace, asked if we'd want any bubbly (they gave complimentary) and also locked off the area for an hour. When we got there the team had put out candles, champaign on ice and even blankets as it was warm. Everything was perfect. Also she said yes. Was lovely to see the team all excited and make something that can be nerve-wracking flow very smoothly. Fantastic team work! Check out was super easy and we genuinely miss the hotel. I'd highly recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Edinburgh. The personal touches from all the team at the hotel us feel so so welcome. Thank you to all the team! You made our trip so very special. Cannot thank you enough. Give them all raises!

This is my favourite hotel I've ever stayed in. The hotel and common areas were beautiful, and the room was stunning, as well as very well thought out. The service was fantastic and we were truly blown away by our stay, especially for the price. I have no complaints at all and will definitely look for Virgin Hotels on future city breaks.

My husband and I have just returned from a 2 night stay at this hotel and had a thoroughly enjoyable time. The hotel itself was peaceful, relaxing and comfortable. We enjoyed all of the little seating areas for watching the world go by. Our room was spacious and had a very comfortable bed. All of the staff we encountered were both friendly and professional and the hotel is in an excellent location. We are leaving feeling fully refreshed and wouldn't hesitate to return.
