Disappointed guest

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

The hotel advertises as 5* but it is no better than the average 4* but is quite expensive. Food fine, plenty of choice but you need to be selective. There wasn’t any entertainment at all except an occasional pianist. Went in February and weather not very good with frequent storms from the sea. Indoor pool excellent and I was able to swim early every morning. Hotel is long and narrow so lots of walking to and from room. Not a good location 5 or 6 Kilometres from Estepona town next to the extremely busy dual carriageway A7 road that impossible to cross except by the infrequent footbridges. Beaches are stoney with coarse sand and very narrow, not suitable for children. There is a walkway into Estepona that takes about three quarters of a hour and the old town is pleasant suggest a visit to the tourist information centre but that’s not easy to find. There is an enormous amount of building work all around and the local area is dirty with litter and builders materials and waste everywhere. Local buses are sparse and infrequent although cheap. Wouldn’t go to that area agin but there were many golfers there and within a short distance are at least 3 golf courses. Best to hire a car at least for a few days, Check out Zest car rental VG. A trip to Ronda is worthwhile also a visit to Casares. I enjoy trekking but couldn’t find any proper routes locally so the car was a boon.

Hotel Elba and Spa Estepono

Ana Ma and her colleagues keep my room extremely clean. The mini bar is maintained well, and the general service of all staff around the hotel is exceptional. My wife and I travel here each year after we have stayed at the Marriott, Playa Andaluza. Thank you.

Excellent hotel with fantastic staff

A great position for walking along the coast . Lovely flat paths for miles and miles. The food quality in the buffet was excellent with meats and fish cooked to order every night. Also other pre cooked dishes available each night. We had a themed Sushi night that was excellent. Very large rooms as standard. We had contemplated booking a suite but when reception showed us our room it wasn’t needed as the room was lovely.

Not 5 star hotel service standard

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Room is big but old style, smelly and the service definitely was not a five star standard at all. We booked the double bed but the hotel gave us two single beds attaching together and one was lower another one, so we just slept in one single bed. They provided only one free bottle of water in the first day, the rest of our stay we had to buy water from them or buy from grocery stores. It's so weird and totally different with the two of five star hotels we stayed in Seville and in Malaga. The service in Elba Estepona Gran Hotel and Thalasso Spa is deserved 3 star hotel We will never come back to this hotel. The only plus was big breakfast, many fresh juices.

Lots to like at Elba Estepona

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by Raphael, Toni, and Gloria at the reception desk. They went above and beyond to assist with booking tours and providing valuable local information, which was incredibly helpful. Their patience and willingness to communicate in English made everything effortless and enjoyable. At the buffet restaurant, while the food options were somewhat limited, the staff truly stood out for their kindness and personal touch. They made sure we felt well cared for, and their genuine hospitality was greatly appreciated. A special shout-out to Pedro, Tomas, Manuel, Cristina, Clara, Toni, and Tony for their outstanding service. Your efforts made our stay both lovely and memorable. However, the dinner options were more limited compared to other 5-star resorts we've visited. The meat choices were mainly pork and beef, with no lamb available, and the flavors were a bit bland. This was a bit disappointing, considering the variety we’ve experienced at other resorts. Due to this, we’ve given 4 stars, but otherwise, the overall hospitality, cleanliness, room service, and available facilities (such as the indoor pool, spa, gym, and bar) were impeccable. Thank you to everyone for making our experience so special!
