This hotel cherishes you from the moment you arrive. Breakfast is served in quite a grand way and with an excellent variety of dishes to try. We ate dinner at the restaurant, which was very good with first class service. Our bedroom was comfortable with premium toiletries. The staff are eager to tell you of the hotel’s fascinating history which we so enjoyed hearing. What must have been discussed in the cosy bar in times gone by I can only imagine… The pool area was the only source of disappointment; the weather invited you to sit out but you were left to access the towels and lounger cushions independently. There were some loungers that were damaged which knocked the edge of the five star experience. Would I return? Absolutely, with fingers crossed that the pool area is staffed in the same manner as the hotel.

One of the loveliest hotels we’ve ever stayed in. The standard was first class. The decor beautiful. Very oldie work due but so tastefully done. The staff can’t do enough for you from the doorman to the waiters and are so smartly dressed in the uniforms. Played golf at their own course. Courtesy transfer leaves every half hour. Course enjoyable and not too long. Spa looked amazing and included in price but sadly didn’t get chance to experience. Would definitely recommend and will be back.

I used to live in Cascais and always loved to look into the lovely pool through the fence of Palacio Estoril. Lots of James Bond history etc. We left Portugal and returned on vacation a year later so voila, decided to spend a week here. When we arrived, I thought a member of staff must have died because we got no attention and doorman and desk staff all seemed really upset. More curious than anything we carried on our stay with hope. and....nothing. Staff were dreadful from the front desk to the dining areas to the bar. My only conclusion is they must treat their staff badly because a week of unprofessional and dreadful service is insane in a so called 5 star hotel. Otherwise, rooms were ok, a bit small and food was bordering medium. Pool area is very nice...a historic hotel with little else to offer

If walls could talk, this hotel could entertain you for a lifetime from James Bond to European royalty. Everyone has stayed here. An elegant old hotel with rooms facing the casino gardens and water - the view from the junior suites with its ample balcony is captivating. The service is old world attention to detail. The common areas provide quiet spaces and luxurious elegance. The early bird breakfast buffet from 2 AM offers sustenance for late night casino patrons or those with early morning tours or tee times. They’ve thought of everything. Breakfast is excellent with a wide variety of selections. The garden and swimming area are well maintained and beautiful. The rooms are comfortable as are the beds. Staff were welcoming and offered attention to detail.

Overall the hotel exterior was impressive but the interior was average. This hotel in my eyes is no longer a 5 star hotel. I say no longer as I can recognise why it would have been in its time but it’s in need of an update and some TLC. The service was traditional luxury service with doormen, concierge and help with luggage, but nothing hugely spectacular. The room and decor was grand but a bit run down with scuffed furniture, peeling wallpaper in the halls and a dated feel. The aircon was effective but you had to ring down to reception to amend the temperature which is annoying and out of the norm, especially in the middle of the night. The minibar and room service had everything you could want but was definitely on the pricey side, and it’s always a pet peeve of mine when complimentary water is non-existent or very limited. Overall I would stay again but only on some sort of deal as the price doesn’t align to what you get in my eyes.
