Surrounded by stunning Renaissance architecture and haute fashion boutiques, Hotel De La Ville has long been a haven for aristocratic Florentine families, politicians and entertainment figures. Its ambience reflects the cultural legacies of Florence, while its spirit is unadulterated la dolce vita. Whether you are lingering over homemade pastries in the gracious breakfast room, plotting a day trip to San Gimignano with the concierge or simply resting in your elegant bedroom or suite, your stay is an exercise in the fine art of Italian living.

We got a junior suite. It did not look like as nice as the room on the website, but was adequate. Everything was a little worn. In the morning, the hotel lost hot water, so no hot shower, but this I'm sure is rare. Luckily I had showered before they lost it. They need better hairdryers. The staff was trying their best. They held our luggage before and after checkout, which was nice. The bar area is very nice and was good to meet with our fellow travelers. The breakfast was really nice. The location perfect. Very easy walk to all sites. Overall a good price for the location so it's worth it.

Really can't see how this hotel has been rated so highly. If quaint is what you require without any modern touches, then this is the hotel for you. No tea and coffee facilities in your room in a country which, loves coffee. No usb charging points, which with the number of devices used today is strange. Things are all a little tired, and in need of a proper face-lift. Breakfast was adequate, but by no means extravagant. Staff tried hard, but reception staff needed to smile more often. The single key, yes, key to each room was strange, especially when you had to hand it in each time you went out ( I think it was an antique). I'm sure this would suit some, but should not rated anymore than 3 as people would expect much more in the 21st century, apart from location.

Hotel de La Ville has an excellent location, within walking distance of virtually all there is to see in Florence. On arrival after a long day of travel, we were welcomed by a very junior front desk clerk all on his own and not very adept at juggling all the guest requests coming his way. After 45 minutes of back and forth to get our reservation sorted and room issued, and 2 more senior employees finally arriving and resolving the problem, we were able to get into our room. With the exception of the problem at check-in, the stay was very pleasant. From this point forward everything at De La Ville was very good. We had a very comfortable, quiet room and enjoyed the breakfast room service and offerings daily. Kudos to the breakfast staff for their ability to keep the buffet clean, stocked and clear tables quickly to handle the heavy traffic.

Would give it zero if I could. It is not charming and traditional. It is old and desparately in need of up dating. Reception staff are rude. Rooms are rubbish.Bed is uncomfortable. No tea/ coffee making facilities. Water costs €3 a bottle. Shower screen leaked. Avoid at all costs

Good Location That is where the good points stop. The single room was a cupboard, our double room wasn't much better and only had 1 socket that could be used. after a bit of hassle we eventually got an extension to allow us to charge our phones, watches and my partners hair straighteners. No iron in the room and not available from the hotel so no way of pressing your clothes. Overall the facilities are very poor, the staff were extremely unhelpful verging on Rude and the lift in the hotel wasn't large enough to accomodate 3 adults and our cases.this experience really took the shine off our Italian adventure which was a 50th birthday celebration.
