Overlooking the Ponte Vecchio, the Hotel Degli Orafi offers a prime location for travelers seeking easy access to Florence’s historic monuments. The hotel’s slightly disorderly antique décor it is warm and reassuring at the same time. Many rooms have luscious views of the Arno, and a few have their own terraces. One in particular, the room 414, has its own terrace overlooking the river and the Ponte Vecchio and it is famous to be ‘The Room with a View’ (as featured in James Ivory’s film).

We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Degli Orafi very much. The staff was very friendly and courteous. Our room was very spacious and we had an incredible view of the Ponte Vechio bridge and the Arno River. This hotel is centrally located to the Florence city center which makes walking everywhere very easy.

The hotel is very well situated and the staff is great. However we were put in a room in a part of the building which is clearly not a part of the original hotel. Some of the walls were dirty and the shower booth was very basic with broken gasket. Not at all to the norm of a 4 stars hotel. This room should have been renovated.

We stayed in a room with a view over the river Arno and the Ponte Vecchio. We were not disappointed the view was great. The executive double room was reasonably large. The double room was formed from a twin room and so one consequence was that there was only one bedside table. This was annoying but could easily be remedied by the hotel putting an extra bedside table when the room is used as double. The ensuite is long and thin. There is a single shower with adequate water pressure. However the shower compartment did not seal properly and so there was a lot of water on the floor after a shower. The rooms are serviced every day and they mopped everything up so it was not a major problem Room service was good-every day in the morning and again in the evening if you were out. There was one bottle of water and 1 bottle of wine free anything else from the mini-bar you had to pay for. The decor and carpets were a little tired. For us this was compensated by the fantastic view from the room. Breakfast was great and served in a beautiful room. You are seated and you order coffee or tea then you help yourself to food. Great fresh bread is provided which you can toast. My wife is gluten free and they always had gluten free bread for her. Hot food options were scrambled egg, bacon or sausage. These were great though the sausages were too strong for me. The cold food options were extensive and excellent quality. No other food is served for the rest of the day. However, there is a rooftop bar with brilliant views over Florence. This serves snacks such as lasagne, a plate of meats with bread and tuna or turkey salads. The bar was quiet during the week but got very busy at the weekend. The location of the hotel next to the Uffizi gallery is perfect for exploring Florence. Staff were friendly and helpful. Overall we are happy to recommend this hotel.

Great location right on the river and adjacent to the Ponte Vecchio. The decor is 1950's. Carpets need cleaning. Furnishings old but serviceable. Bed comfortable. Bathroom good. Staff seemed OK until I tried to extend stay. They claimed "no rooms." went on Booking.com website and there were multiple rooms available. They may been reacted negatively to us being an interracial couple. Nonetheless we left and booked elsewhere.

We stayed in one of the modern suites - at first I was disappointed that it wasn’t an old fashioned authentically Florentine room, but we actually really enjoyed the space and having a bed each! The Wi-Fi was so much better than in other hotels and the quality of the rooms and bathrooms was superb. I like a soft bed and once I’d asked for a topper it was perfect. We’ve stayed in quite a few hotels and this had the most gorgeous room for breakfast with chandeliers and a painted ceiling with a lovely view of the Arno. The breakfast itself was one of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve ever had with the most deliciously cooked cherry tomatoes and lovely fruit. The staff were polite and friendly. No complaints whatsoever, we‘d definitely stay here again and hopefully in the room with a view next time.
