In a quiet corner in the center of Florence, an 18th-century palazzo houses the Grand Hotel Villa Medici. Boasting an ideal location near the Arno River and the city's most important cultural and historic sights, this sophisticated retreat offers a tranquil garden setting in the midst of the city and the ambiance of a private residence with unforgettable Florentine views. Recently the hotel has undergone renovations, giving it a brand new look and a complete facelift. History, tradition and class have been for ever a symbol of this hotel, and the changes make the ambiance softer and elegant, offering guests a contemporary vision of the ground floor without loosing the past elements that the hotel is so proud of.

I recently stayed at the Sina Villa Medici in Florence, expecting a luxurious and refined experience, but what I encountered was far from it. While the staff were friendly, professional, and genuinely the only redeeming aspect of this hotel, the rest of the stay was considerably below five star quality (more closer three star) The facilities are shockingly outdated for a hotel that claims to be five-star. The rooms were tired, with a mix of poorly maintained furniture and subpar amenities. The toilet seat was stained and the shower had black mould in the grouting. Shower was without pressure. The passageways were visibly dirty with stains, indicating a troubling lack of attention to detail and cleanliness. At a price of €700/night, this is completely at odds with hotels of superior stature that charge less. The hotel’s inconsistent room quality makes it a gamble for any guest. While some rooms have been renovated, mine had clearly not, and the stark contrast between what’s advertised and what you might get is infuriating. I’ve stayed in many hotels around the world, and this was by far one of the most disappointing experiences. If not for the excellent staff, I would have checked out early. Avoid at all costs unless you’re willing to gamble on a subpar experience for the price of a luxury stay. Avoid at all costs.

I wouldn’t consider this a 5 star hotel by any means. There isn’t actually a door man, and most of the other luxuries you would expect from a 5 star hotel are also not very obvious either. Be carful in considering if you want to stay in an old historic building. The funk of old stays with the royal suites in terms of smell, uncomfortable furniture and heavy room perfume in an attempt of the staff to hide the smells. All the combos can make you sick. The mattress is old, lumpy and so thin you won’t sleep well. Harry’s Bar is expensive and they aren’t very skilled in making cocktails.

Beautiful architecture and design. Rooms are tired. Sofa reminded me of my great grandparents. Quite unbelievable actually as we had a suite. People very friendly🙃 and great service. Needs plus $50M to make it a four star much less a five. I’d stay at the AC because it’s new and tired….. This horse needs to be….

Absolutely beautiful and stunning hotel. The property is gorgeous, the rooms are spacious, and the staff is wonderful. The staff makes you feel like you are in your own palatial home. There are areas where you can relax alone or be with others. Just can't rave enough about this hotel. Very friendly and accommodating staff and wonderful piano player in the evenings. Good location less than a mile to the Ponte Vecchio.

It’s very nice and elegant inside and outside. However the location is questionable. My wife and I didn’t feel safe to walk at night. We are Marriott titanium members and breakfast not included. We paid around $650USD per night for 7days. I think it’s over priced.

We stayed at the Grand Hotel Villa Medici in April. From the moment we were greeted by our courteous driver at the train station to our return, our expectations were exceeded. The room was lovely, overlooking all of Florence, and we knew we would spend time watching the sunset every evening. And the fresh flowers, wonderful cantuccini and vin santo were a welcome treat!
