My thanksgiving trip

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

You guys have so many great ways for entertainment. Then being on the radio scanner I was surprised and looking around then you guys have so many shops and food. I recommend doing the valley inn grill. The bowling alley is a good choice for new people. And the Christmas decorations. I'm also going to the different areas

Fails on basic customer service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Not a good experience at all. We called and were told our room was ready before leaving and turns out it wasn’t, which is fine. We waited and then had to go to dinner and we were told we would receive a call/text when ready. We did not. Again, not a huge deal. After finally getting checked in, they gave us the wrong room. My wife had our dog and there kids while I parked the car and there was someone in the room they told us. I went back to the front desk and they got a manager, who said he was going to go fix the issue. He then stopped and talked to another guest for 5-10 minutes before going down and figuring out they simply wrote the wrong number on the key holder. The same manager walked past us on the way back and wouldn’t even look our way. Not a huge deal, but a simple “sorry about that” would’ve been great. Service was poor across the board. For a hotel that positions itself as high end, the service level does not match at all. I won’t even mention the checkout process.

Outdated with terrible service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Very disappointed after our stay here following the Polar Express train. The lobby is cute and has some historic elements, the rooms are terribly outdated. No historic charm, just outdated and in need of lots of trim and wall repair. Our room was very basic two queen bed and the bathroom resembled a hospital bathroom. Lotion and hand soap containers attached to the counter had dust and residual soap/lotion from last usages. The extra blanket, wasn’t folded in the drawer and we suspected not clean. My husband called down to housekeeping to ask for two wine glasses to enjoy wine we brought with us in our room and we were redirected to several other departments to be told they could only provide glasses if we purchased wine. Apparently the nearly $400 room only supplies plastic glasses. Service all around was lacking. We ate a very subpar meal at the Power Plant Bar and Grill and they began vacuuming the entire restaurant at 8:15 with a full restaurant of people. Service, ambiance, cleanliness are all in need of serious improvement!

Dancing vacation

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Attended a dance convention so socialized quite a bit in ballroom. Very nice hotel with good service and lots of space. Had a meal in casual dining room which worked out well. Walked by indoor pool. Looked nice. Good parking and elevators worked fine. Older hotel.

Beautiful Historic Hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Great location, beautiful architecture and easy to get around. If you love history, this is a great place to find it. Great staff and accommodations made it an enjoyable experience. Sitting in the huge second floor porch was a great way to end each day.
