The hotel was even better then we expected it. Thank you to all the staff. The breakfast buffet is amazing and so well prepared. All the best for the future and please continue to do everything that you provided to us, Iam sure you are one of the best hotels in the island.

Two weeks ago we visited Royal Savoy. We were there for a week. POSITIVES: This is nice hotel, good location, good food and attentive and polite staff. We had junior ground floor room. A bit tired but it was fine. We traveled with Jet2. They had told the hotel about our wedding anniversary. To our surprise we received a bottle bubbly in the room with the compliments of the hotel. This was organised by one the mangers called Costa ( really nice chap). We had a glass each but since it was dinner time, we took it to the restaurant. But one of restaurant manager called Chefe Luis ( see the photo) would not allow us to take it to our table. Even though I explained it was given by the hotel. He would not have. So he ruined our nice. So I told them to put it in the bin. Next day I told Costa, he told it is company policy that you can’t take drink from our area of the hotel to another. But said under the circumstances he should allowed us. And sincerely apologised. NEGATIVES: This hotel operates a timeshare. Over 80% of their clients having been coming for over 10 years. The problem isn’t that. The problem is the most of our guests are very old. You hardly see any young couples. And their night live entertainment are geared towards them. If that doesn’t bother you, you should be fine. Even though we are in late 60s, we still like a bit lively hotel. Funchal itself hasn’t much to offer. And there isn’t much in the surrounding areas ( within an reasonable distance). We would never go back to this resort.

We love the Royal Savoy . The staff were amazing , the meals were excellent , and the areas around the pool were a joy to use as were the pools especially hearing the sea . Some of the rooms are a bit past their best , but the atmosphere and the friendliness of fellow guests and staff far outweigh these concerns. We also stay at the Savoy Palace which is immaculate and modern, we like both as they are so different , and both have their advantages . We prefer the homeliness and character of the RS. We have visited the RS since 2003 and have never tired of it . To sit at the poolside of an evening , having a delicious meal is what I look forward to each visit, and which keeps me going through our British Winter !

Consistently the best place to stay with the majority of guest being returnees. Great location and facilities with all rooms having an ocean view, but it is the staff who are their biggest asset: always welcoming and professional. We will be back soon!

3rd visit this year to this wonderful hotel. Great location with good access to the sea and not far to walk to Funchal. Staff are excellent, friendly and very helpful. Although some may say the hotel itself is tired, I just find it homely and comfortable. Home from home. This visit was with a young family, the hotel arrange all that we needed, a cot, high chair and the bed linen we wanted for the baby. One of our group has a severe gluten allergy. The hotel choice for her was really good and when we had the Asian buffet the chef showed her every food that was gluten free. The chef even came back a second time when we couldn’t remember which of the sweets were gluten free! Plenty of gluten free items for breakfast. Food has always been good, but this year it feels to have got even better. Prices have increased, but haven’t they everywhere.
