Royal Savoy

Having been visiting for over 20 years we have come to feel The Royal Savoy is our home from home. With standards always maintained to the highest order we have never had grounds to complain or question. Recent exterior re-decoration sees this establishment looking as good as new and never fails to impress. Over the time we have been holidaying here, of particular note, is the calibre & friendliness of ALL the staff, no matter what their position might be.

Where to start! The food, service and ambience were all 5* in this restaurant! The food was delicious. Everything was cooked to perfection, with all the tiny tweaks of a top chef - this chef knows exactly what he is doing! This was the tastiest meal I have had abroad in years, and I travel a lot. The service was excellent and the staff were very professional. There was a singer performing. He was fantastic. If I were to recommend anywhere in Madeira, it would be here. We all agreed that will be back.

Had a lovely time at the Savoy with my husband and 4 year old. I would say that the check in process could be improved and include information on pool maintenance because for 3 days , there was palm tree pruning and painting happening which meant it was a bit unpleasant to be around the pool. The breakfast is OK, feels a bit repetitive after a couple days. The fruit offering is poor.

Lovely hotel with a good location, a short walk from central Funchal. Wonderful ocean view from the room. If it's not too windy you can swim in the ocean without leaving the hotel premises (big plus if you just want that quick morning swim). Very good breakfast and spotless cleaning of the room every day.

Beautiful 5 star hotel in a convenient location with truly stynning views. Excellent facilities, staff and service.
