Reviews for Savoy Palace

Exceptional Hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

We have just returned from a week at the Savoy Palace, and have to say this is one of the best hotels we have stopped in. Exceptionally spacious, staff are extremely helpful and the hotel itself is spotlessly clean. We were in a superior ocean view room on level 10 and had an amazing panoramic view of the sea, harbour and pool area. It’s close enough to the town without being too close. Having stayed in the Lido area on many occasions, we prefer where the Savoy is located. If you can afford to upgrade, do. It’s definitely worth it. Breakfast was very good with so much choice. We didn’t eat in the hotel but chose to sample the many restaurants within a five minute stroll. All were exceptional. Many more have popped up since the last time we were on the island. We will most definitely be returning to the Savoy.

Great hotel and fabulous view

This is a rather grand looking hotel On arrival there was a confusion when we were showed to an area for check in then was told that we were not on the list and to go back to reception! The room was very well presented with a great sea view The breakfast however was a let down. The food was just about lukewarm. I had eggs Benedict one morning at least that was what I asked for unfortunately it was eggs on what looks like some biscuits and yellow lumpy mess of a sauce. Do not recommend! We ate at the hotel on two evenings. Surprisingly the price was reasonable for hotel restaurants. On the day of departure the time of check out for our rooms were 12. We didn’t want to wait around in the room till then so went out for a quick walk around the garden on our return we were unable to get back into the rooms having to sort out the problem at the reception return to the rooms again were able to access them. Again returned to reception to try to sort it out another receptionist pointed out to us because it was ALMOST 12 o’clock bearing in mind our check out was 12 and if it wasn’t that they have already locked us out of our rooms …….!! Ending on a good note the facility and nearly all of the staff were exceptional Not going to let the hiccups from returning. Lets hope better experience next time Madeira is a beautiful place

Savoy Palace is the perfect match when visiting Madeira. after a day visiting the astonishing landscapes of the island, entering your room in the Savoy only continues the feeling of wonder. The hotel is what you can call perfection. The rooms are out of this world , the staff couldn't be more attentive and courteous , the breakfast is superb, the location perfect .

Beautiful hotel, great location.

The hotel is truly a work of art (although some areas/decor are a strange mix of elements) and the customer service is second to none. Spotlessly clean in both rooms and public areas and a gorgeous 80 meter pool; on the chilly side in March but once you’re in it’s ok! Breakfast was good - lots of choice but quality (and temperature) of food perhaps a little less than expected. A few of the restaurants/bars were closed for some reason and the indoor pool is small (3 is a crowd) Extra payment is required for use of the spa, including sauna etc. The hotel sits behind a few others so the view is not totally unobstructed but access to the sea is made via the Royal Savoy, an older relation to the Palace. Lots of more affordable and fun options for food just outside the hotel. The hotel is very central for both Funchal and the rest of the beautiful island - we’ll certainly be back to explore further. We went via a Vacation Club Promotional Week and were encouraged to buy into the hotel. No pressure at all. The hotel is very lovely but then there are lots lovely hotels in Madeira but it’s certainly worth a visit!
