The hotel itself is great! The design, interior and exterior have been design and executed truly at 5-star-level. Everything has been kept shiny and clean as one would expect at this price range. The only not-so-well-functioning tech was the Wi-Fi which didn't work very well outside of the hotel (the closer to the building you are the better it works). However, it's sad to say that the service level did not meet the 5-star expectations. Frankly, I have received better service at plenty of 3 and 4 star hotels. At the reception most of the answers to our concerns or questions started with a "No" or "I'm sorry but" and we didn't make any really challenging requests - probably the most challenging was if we could enter the breakfast 5-10min before it starts because we will be in a hurry to the airport - the reply was a clear NO. Instead we were offered cold coffee and an apple. The staff was just as inflexible with early check-in time etc and is clearly just play by their rules and not by the situation. I can't help but think that if we had arrived in a Ferrari and stayed at the most luxurious suite, maybe then they would bend their rules - but certainly not for "normal" customers. I would rate the service at 3,5 stars out of 5. It was ok but didn't reach the expectations. In our room itself the only inadequate thing was lack of closet space. We couldn't fit 2 persons clothes in 1 closet. Personally I would have designed 1 more closet and left that m2 away from the space used for the huge bathroom/toilet area. Also, our room was a few stories above a bar so the noise from the bar was sometimes loud while sitting at the balcony but that didn't really bother us. Sorry to say but this was our first, and last, time to stay at Sovoy in Madeira. Hope you get your act together also from the service level point of view.

Came here for a long romantic weekend with my girlfriend, and we were blown away by the quality of this hotel. Amazing service, brilliant location, high quality furnishings and a beautiful hotel room. We also used the Spa which was excellent. A fantastic hotel which we would love to come back to again in future.

The hotel is beautiful, reception staff excellent, breakfast was good, housekeeping rather inconsistent and getting a table booked in the restaurants when they were actually open was challenging with bang average food served in surroundings which were at best fifty percent occupied. I split my head open in the swimming pool and approached the reception desk in the spa with blood dripping down my forehead however the receptionist walked straight past me to greet two of her friends and after a ten minute wait,l gave up and returned to our room where my wife tended my wound. The Savoy clearly has insufficient staff to offer a five star service at the present time.

Absolutely amazing hotel! Far exceeded our expectations. Beautiful architecture and grounds, amazing service, etc. Our only complaint would be that the bathrooms were very form-over-function. They were beautiful, but not practical. No counter space due to strange design, turning on the restroom light at night lights up the entire bedroom, and the toilet are is a big echo chamber, so, well, you can fill in the rest. But that aside everything else about this hotel was top notch! I would definitely stay there again.

Beautiful hotel, the standard you would expect for the price. The attention to its architecture and interior design really makes the hotel stand out. We also enjoyed being able to use the facilities of the Royal Savoy next door which has access to the seafront. The only downside was that a 3 day wedding took over the hotel, both in terms of noise and parts of the hotel being closed off. A few other nights, Galáxia bar and Vimes were also closed for private events and at times it didn’t feel like hotel guests were a priority. However, our overall holiday at the Savoy Palace was still excellent.
