The Fortress Resort & Spa

This was our third stay at The Fortress Resort, and once again, it exceeded our expectations. We stayed in an Ocean Loft Suite, which was absolutely huge, spanning two floors and featuring a spacious indoor plunge pool. The addition of a dedicated butler made the experience even more special. The room was incredibly spacious, well-lit, soundproofed, and equipped with all the amenities we needed. Although we encountered a minor issue with the electricals, the technical team promptly resolved it. The plunge pool was a highlight for us, with the water maintained slightly above ambient temperature—perfect for us and our child, who thoroughly enjoyed it too. As always, the food was excellent. We opted for breakfast at the resort and tried in-room dining, which, though slightly more expensive than on our previous visits (likely due to exchange rates), was still worth it for the quality and convenience. The service was impeccable, with attentive and helpful staff who made our visit truly memorable. This level of hospitality is what keeps bringing us back. The Fortress Resort remains the only place in Sri Lanka that we’ve visited multiple times—and it has consistently surpassed our expectations. We can’t wait to return for another exceptional stay!

Awful spa experience. We waited 30 minutes with no refreshments, and they didn’t inform us there was only one female therapist available. As two women, this was unacceptable. My friend ended up with a male therapist who scratched her face during the facial with rough hands. The room was dusty, and the treatment ended early. Definitely not five-star standards — wouldn’t recommend!

We enjoyed our stay in the hotel. Extremely comfortable room with direct access to the beach. In particular, we loved waking up to the sound of the waves. There was an excellent variety of food to cater for vegetarians and non vegetarians. Most of all, staff were very friendly and pleasant and very knowledgeable about the surrounding areas. Overall, it has been an exceptional experience . We would recommend the Fortress resort to anyone who is looking for a fantastic holiday in Sri Lanka. Thank you very much!!

It was a wonderful experience and the staff was extremely helpful and too caring for the baby and all the facilities were amazing truly one should visit it even if you are planning a trip with your little one , cheers hope to visit soon in the near future and

No words are enough for this amazing hotel.. We stayed 5 nights in fortress and since our arrival the hospitality was top notch. The quality of the hotel facilities, food and room service is a 10/10! We were upgraded from fortress room to a side ocean view on our arrival and then we were upgraded again to an ocean view room on our 3rd day The open buffet breakfast quality is super good and there are many varieties. The restaurant views are outstanding facing the pool and the ocean. The staff working on the pool were very polite and helpful. The hotel also provides tuktuk ride services with reasonable and fixed prices which made our transportation around the area easier. One thing I truly admired about the hotel is the eagerness of the staff to make you feel happy and satisfied. We experienced an unforgettable honeymoon all thanks to this hotel! ❤️ Totally recommended for a couple getaway or a honeymoon destination.
